The first episode Fallout Season 2 has just been released on Amazon Prime Video, and fans of the franchise are no doubt flocking to celebrate the beginning Fallout reviews that indicate a strong follow-up to it. Some fans will no doubt flock to the games as well, like Fallout 76Burning Springs update or the show's title setting New Vegasbut many are waiting for news Fallout 5. The fans know it will come later The Elder Scrolls 6which is years away so it's hard to say when they'll be able to play Fallout 5. In a recent interview, Howard dropped some new information that sheds at least a little light on the highly anticipated game.
In fact, Bethesda seems to have been quite chatty in recent weeks. Several Bethesda developers recently released a small update The Elder Scrolls 6with its development still progressing, but there's no internal time pressure because they want to get it right. Some work Fallout 5 is likely happening in tandem, especially since Howard revealed where it will take place in the timeline.
Fallout 76 may have opened a Pandora's box that Fallout 5 can't close
Fallout 76 broke new ground for the Fallout franchise, and that means Fallout 5 can't bring back the steady pace of progress.
In a recent interview with the BBC, Howard was asked if the TV show would have any impact on Fallout 5. “In short, yes,” Howard said, before continuing, “Fallout 5 will exist in the world where the stories and events of the show happened or are happening.” This timeline is very important. As fans know, Fallout 76 is the oldest game in the franchise, set just a few decades after the bombs dropped in 2077. The flip side of this is Fallout a show that is canonically at the very other end of the spectrum. The conclusion that can easily be drawn here is this Fallout 5 will be the latest game when it comes out.
Fallout Game/TV Timeline
- Fallout 76: 2102-2105
- Fallout: 2161-2162
- Fallout tactics: 2197-2198
- Fallout 2: 2241-2242
- Fallout 3: 2277-2278
- Fallout: New Vegas – 2281-2282
- Fallout 4: 2287
- Fallout TV series – 2296-2297
Based on Howard's comment, that means Fallout 5 takes place no earlier than 2296 and could easily stretch into 2300 years. Given that Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegasand Fallout 4 they all progress along the timeline, it might not be too surprising, but because Fallout 76 takes place so early in the timeline, it might seem like Bethesda didn't want to leave 2200. Since locations change in each main game, it could have been set anywhere – especially after Fallout 76 it happened so soon – but it's nice to know that this timeline development is continuing.
It is further worth noting that Fallout the timeline goes all the way back to the year 2900. The events that take place after the TV series are predictions or weird little hints that can't be taken too seriously, but the 2300 could just be the first step into a new century for the game. Actually, taking place around 2299 and 2300 would make an interesting plot point if done right. But some notable predictions or events include Vault 101 suggesting that the United States will be habitable again by 2377, Mr. House's prediction that he could colonize other planets by 2381, the Sonic invasion in 2910 being repelled by the Courier's actions, and 2997 being the year Vault-Tec technology ceases to function. That's probably propaganda, but it's still interesting.
“Fallout 5 will exist in a world where the stories and events of the show happened or are happening.”
In the end, none of this may matter Fallout 5but that means each game and TV series could continue to shape future events. Anyway, I'm hoping for a good 2300.
