While many fighting games have done well in this era, including recent releases for Tekken, Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, plus the resurgence of things like Fatal Fury, if you're a fan of Marvel vs. Capcom, then it can't get any worse.
Sure, we got Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, which finally brought MvC 2 to modern hardware, but in terms of new stuff, from Marvel vs. There was no Capcom Infinite in 2017, and most fans would probably prefer to forget its existence.
This means that thanks to a fan project, Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 several new members. Sure, it's not a brand new game, but it'll have to do.
As first spotted by EventHubs, Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 Community Edition, the fan project that kept the last true Marvel vs Capcom title alive, adds Darkstalkers' Demitri Maximoff, Robbie Reyes AKA Ghost Rider, Professor X (Krakoa version), Cable (finally!!!) and Street Fighter's Dudley to the roster.
There's a full 10-minute debut trailer that's worth watching, especially if you want to see some of these characters in action. That said, if you want to go ahead and experience the characters for yourself, the Nexus Mods fan project page has been updated with the latest files to expand your list.
With the addition of these characters, the roster, as noted by EventHubs, is now up to 73 fan characters. Yes, 73 characters straight from a group of fans who have banded together to keep the excellent crossover fighter alive. Characters like Ultron, Leon, Venom, Carnage, and Mega Man X have been added to the game in the past, so the Community Edition is probably the best way to experience MvC 3.
Hopefully we won't have to wait that much longer for any scraps of news related to a potential Marvel Vs. Capcom 4. But in case the game never comes, or is as mediocre as Infinite was, then at least we'll have the UMvC 3 fan project to fall back on, and as long as Capcom and Marvel keep making new content about all the creators, it looks like they fit in with Marvel vs. Capcom.
