Fan fiction is a great way to show your love for your favorite IP. The non-canon alternate stories of our favorite characters help fill the void left by the lack of official content. But there's also another fan-fic site that puts some of our favorite characters in… unconventional positions.
Raunchy photos and videos of video game characters are all over the internet, and a lot of them consist of characters from Overwatch or Final Fantasy 7. We've already seen Tifa's spicy video from Final Fantasy 7 hit the Italian Senate. However, the voice actors for these characters really don't want to see it, especially Aerith actor Briana White.
Aerith doesn't want to see your FF7 NSFW Art
In response to K-Pop Demon Hunters' Rei Ami commenting on some raunchy fanfic of her own character (thanks, GamesRadar+), White said, “Maybe let's normalize not tagging voice actors in the stupidity of their characters….. Some of you have forgotten the meaning of the word inappropriate.” While creating this art is fine, I suppose, tagging the actors in it is definitely not.
Some fans were quick to point out to White that Rei Ami was more amused than shocked or upset by the fan fiction. Bílá replied that she was not aware of that, but was saying a more general thing. “As someone else said, it's a consent thing,” she added.
“And it can be almost impossible to know exactly what is or isn't acceptable to an individual just from knowing their social media personality.”
She later mentioned that she's not trying to find a spicy fan-fic of Final Fantasy 7's Aerith, but the algorithm still makes sure she encounters him “every day” because of her connection to the game.
What White wants to say is that just because some actors are comfortable interacting with this kind of content doesn't mean others are. No one is stopping you from creating or enjoying it, just don't shove it in the faces of actors who don't want to see it.
