A now changed LinkedIn profile for a former Rockstar Games developer he works on Grand Theft Auto 6 unveils a procedural “breakable glass system” that will add another level of realism to the open-world crime game. It is worth noting that between Grand Theft Auto series a Red Dead Redemption series, the latter focused more on realistic immersion, but the company's pedigree applies to both franchises. GTA 6 will not be an exception in this regard.
Right now, fans are basically starving for any information Grand Theft Auto 6. Trailer 2 was released in May 2025, which means it's been almost a full year since fans got a concrete look at the game. For this and many other reasons, fans believe that there will be news GTA 6 in April, but it also means that they are searching the Internet for new information. Some even took note of Take-Two's CEO's remark recently GTA 6's price when it wasn't. This search also brought up some fans on LinkedIn.
Rockstar Teases GTA 6 Launch Expectations
Rockstar's expectations for the launch of GTA 6 are as high as they can be, according to the company's latest teaser.
Developers on LinkedIn often accidentally slip new details about a project (or the fact that a project exists). The same can be said here, but within hours of discovering this breakable glass system, the developer updated his profile. In other words, it should be taken with a grain of salt. A LinkedIn profile listed the developer as a graphics programmer who worked at Rockstar Games between February 2020 and April 2023, where he “led the next generation of procedural glass for vehicles and props.” Additionally, they worked on several key elements of the various rendering systems, but it's the glass system that took the internet by storm.
GTA 6 Procedural Glass System (Leak)
In comparison, Grand Theft Auto 5The glass systems were impressive, but all had set shatter patterns. If players hit them, they break in predetermined ways and are not unique to each hit: there are the same cracks, the same size pieces, and the same cracking effect. What this GTA 6 feature means that glass breaks procedurally, in real-time, depending on how, where and with what players hit it.

Shooting, punching, and shooting will cause different breakages, as will the type of broken glass, such as a car windshield, shop window, or side mirror. It also probably means that partial and permanent damage is possible (a half-broken mirror) and that there are actual physical interactions (how shards of glass fall, bounce, slide, or react to external forces). It's a small thing, but Rockstar Games has always been the king of small details, and it's the type of feature that makes the immersion stronger.
This attention to detail could also have a ripple effect GTA 6also gameplay, though perhaps in subtle ways. It could affect how players approach stealth, car chases, or even spur-of-the-moment decisions. It's a crime game after all. Smashing a window display will be different every time, and that's to be expected GTA 6 contains some types of heists, this system will help the game's longevity. Similarly, vehicle firefights could become more visually unpredictable, with windshields cracking and shattering in a way that reflects the true intensity of the encounter.
Of course, this is pure speculation until Rockstar confirms any such system, and should be taken with a grain of salt. Fans will have to wait for an official announcement GTA 6 news, but maybe they shouldn't hold their breath. If Rockstar knows anything, it's how to use impatience as marketing.
