Between console price hikes and Game Pass, there wasn't much to celebrate for Xbox owners in 2025. The silver lining for those using their Xbox to play Fortnite is that Fortnite Crew is now part of Game Pass. Even better, players have discovered a loophole that will give you beaucoup V-Bucks for $1.
Fortnite Crew is a subscription service for the Battle Royale game. For the monthly fee, you get perks like cosmetic items, as well as V-Bucks to spend on anything in the in-game store. You now get access to the Crew if you have Game Pass. However, even if you're already subscribed to Fortnite Crew, subscribing to Game Pass right now will give you an extra 1,000 V-Bucks.
Get a month's game subscription for $1 with 1000 V-Bucks thrown in for good measure
Pretty sweet stuff on its own, but here it's even better. Xbox is currently running an offer where people can sign up for Game Pass Ultimate and pay just $1 for the first month. Not bad for a service that now costs $29.99 a month – sorry to remind you.
This is where this gap occurs. As mentioned above, even if you're already a Fortnite Crew subscriber, you'll still get 1,000 V-Bucks for signing up for Game Pass Ultimate. This led to many people signing up for the highest tier of Game Pass for Xbox and paying one dollar for the privilege, receiving 1,000 V-Bucks in the process.
Fortnite: Crew Pack Subscriptions Explained
Here's how you can unsubscribe from Fortnite Crew on all platforms.
For the most part, these Fortnite players aren't interested in everything else Game Pass has to offer, like its growing library of games. They just want V-Bucks. As Fortnite leaker Shiina – one of many who shared the exploit – advises, most of them get their V-Bucks and then immediately cancel their subscriptions.
Even after cancelling, you'll still have access to Game Pass Ultimate for a month, so why not try out some of these games? I highly recommend Keeper.
This may be a gap that cannot be closed
With V-Bucks secured, these Fortnite players have no other use for Game Pass, especially if they're already subscribed to Fortnite Crew without it, which seems to be the case for the most part. For those unfamiliar with the USD to V-Bucks exchange rate, 1000 V-Bucks costs $8.99meaning you can get this sweet in-game currency for almost 90 percent of the standard price through a loophole.
Usually something like this gets slammed when the spotlight shines on it, but in this case it can be difficult. This is not really an oversight; things just work. The only way I can see potentially improving this to stop people signing up for V-Bucks and then immediately canceling is by limiting the offer to people new to Fortnite Crew rather than offering it as an incentive to all Fortnite players who sign up for Game Pass.
