Sony closed its latest PlayStation State of Play event to overshadow a brand new event God of War game, as well as confirming the long-rumored Greek Trilogy Remake. God of War is one of Sony's biggest franchises of all time, so it's no surprise that it was listed as the last announcement at February's 2026 State of Play.
Santa Monica Studio has released an incredible new product God of War game after game. The original games are popular for their intense action and epic moments, while the newer titles are praised for their emotional storytelling and brutal shoulder-to-shoulder combat. It has long been speculated that a brand new game set after the events of God of War Ragnarok is in the works, though it may very well be two newly announced God of War projects look into Kratos' past.

God of War & Sons of Sparta Greek Trilogy Officially Announced

God of War: Sons of Sparta retails for $29.99 for the Standard Edition and $39.99 for the Digital Deluxe Edition. The Digital Deluxe Edition comes with in-game items, a digital artbook, a digital soundtrack, and a Young Kratos avatar for the PlayStation Network.

Sons of Sparta is the official name of the long-heralded God of War 2D action platformer. It features a child that Kratos trains alongside his brother Deimos and represents one of Kratos' first adventures. Kratos will primarily use his spear and shield throughout the game, but will also acquire special artifacts to help him along the way. Developed by Mega Cat Studios, the game features a pixel art style that makes it look like a 16-bit game, which may be controversial, but it's still an interesting take on the series. People may also be scratching their heads is its T for Teen rating considering how violent most of the games in the franchise are, but that could just be because the art style effectively tones everything down.
TC Carson isn't coming back just to play Kratos God of War A remake of the Greek trilogy. It also provides narration Sons of Spartawhich should give the game a nostalgic feel for a long time God of War fans. There are no reviews available God of War: Sons of Sparta for now as the shadow just dropped but it will be interesting to see how everyone reacts to the game. Regardless, with confirmation that the Greek trilogy is being remade, there's a lot going on God of War fans have something to look forward to in the future.
