Even after two decades, San Andreas has one mission that the rest of the Grand Theft Auto franchise has failed to fully replicate.

The new GTA Online update will be released on December 10th

After months of rumors and leaks, Rockstar has finally revealed the highly anticipated Mansions update for Grand Theft Auto Online last month. Very few details about the patch were shared at the time, but the studio has now released a new blog post and trailer for 'A Safehouse in the Hills'. Not only has the update now been confirmed to arrive on Wednesday, December 10 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, but a short trailer has also shocked fans as Michael De Santa is officially set to return, twelve years after he was last seen in Grand Theft Auto 5.

It's currently unclear how significant Michael's role will be in the upcoming update, but he appears several times in a recent trailer, suggesting that it will be similar to Franklin's role in GTA OnlineContract update. According to the blog post that accompanied the trailer, “A Safehouse in the Hills” will be a “monumental” update that will add Prix Luxury Real Estate to the game, allowing players to purchase a new mansion with expansive outdoor spaces and meticulously designed interiors with a state-of-the-art AI assistant to assist you with professional and personal tasks that maximize players' potential. Fans can also expect plenty of new missions, vehicles, power-ups and more.

With release Grand Theft Auto 6 now less than a year in and fans are dying to know what the future holds Grand Theft Auto Online. While Rockstar Games has yet to confirm whether the progress will carry over to the successor, if the current iteration somehow evolves alongside Grand Theft Auto 6or if it is new Grand Theft Auto Online the game will launch with completely new content, forcing the player to start over. Unfortunately, it will be quite some time before fans find out.

When the next installment in the series was first revealed in 2023, Rockstar Games told fans that it was targeting a fall 2025 release. Given the studio's track record, no one expected that to be the case. Therefore, it was no surprise when the game was pushed back to May 26, 2026. But then the real concerns began when talk of another delay began to circulate online, followed by confirmation from Rockstar that it would indeed be pushed back. Grand Theft Auto 6once again the release date. The highly anticipated title will now launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, 2026. Of course, assuming there are no further delays.
