GTA6 Will Add Online “within a Month” of Launch, Leaker Claims

If you were worried that GTA Online wouldn't be coming out with Grand Theft Auto 6, today's news technical it won't put your mind at ease. However, if you suspected that the inevitably massively popular multiplayer phenomenon wouldn't be joined by the inevitably massively popular singleplayer phenomenon within a reasonable time frame, you can breathe a sigh of relief.

Mostly easily, anyway. Schedules change and AAA game development is difficult to say the least. There's also the usual grain of salt with any claims of top secret information, but TheGhostOfHope proved so legitimate that Activision Blizzard managed to get a court order to stop them from leaking Call of Duty content. So… yes.

Gives you time to finish the “real” game, I suppose

“It's up to you whether you want to believe me or not,” says Hope, “but I heard from someone that the current plan for GTA 6 is to launch online within a month of the game's release.” Pretty straightforward and from a fairly consistently reliable source. Againthings can change. But that's the goal. And Rockstar has the fuel to make it so.

There is already a precedent as well, although I would caution against looking at how things worked in the industry more than a dozen years ago versus today. After all, Grand Theft Online in its current form launched a few weeks after the proverbial parent title, Grand Theft Auto 5. I checked via Wikipedia because, frankly, it's been so long that I didn't remember – but it was through an exchange on TheGhostOfHope's relevant Twitter thread that it dawned on me:

“Wasn't it the same with gta v? The timetables don't have to match 100%, which is not unheard of with rockstar and gta,” one commenter pointed out, to which Hope jokingly replied that some people on the site were acting like “[O]The arrival of nline in the launch window would be amazing for this game.” Yeah, I guess not so much!

As for an eventual PC version, Hope isn't clear, but pointed out that “the next person in the community who missed the PC release is 12-18 months from now.” My dear friend Brandon, if you happen to read my article, my deepest condolences. I know you'll be waiting, and frankly, you're enjoying this game about 200 times more than I am.

A version of the map with the State of Play logo transition.

A reliable leaker says that the new state of the game could arrive next week

We could very well get another state of the game very soon.
