American filmmaker Craig Mazin (The last of us, Chernobyl) will be doing an HBO adaptation Baldur's Gate 3 after The last of us is coming to an end. Season 3 The last of us this is expected to be the last season. While The last of us however, can be fully and accurately described as an adaptation, Baldur's Gate 3 is a little different. Mazin's work “will continue the story.” Baldur's Gate 3.
As fans know, Larian may have been pushing for DLC Baldur's Gate 3 or switched to Baldur's Gate 4but instead decided to go back to its own IP, Divinity. Wizards of the Coast expressed interest Baldur's Gate 4 in the past, and while the video game will probably happen again one day, it seems that Mazin's work will be canon. After all, “it will continue the story”. Baldur's Gate 3.
Set v Dungeons and Dragons setting of Faerun, Baldur's Gate 3 is one of the biggest (if not the biggest) video games of recent years. So it's fitting that HBO decided to create a drama series based on it Baldur's Gate 3with Craig Mazin creating, writing, performing, producing and presenting the television adaptation. Jacqueline Lesko, Cecil O'Conner and Gabriel Marano from Hasbro Entertainment are also attached. Wizards of the Coast is a subsidiary of Hasbro, with Hasbro Head of Story Chris Perkins serving as a consultant.
This HBO adaptation Baldur's Gate 3 takes place immediately after the end of the game, according to Deadline, where both old and new characters deal with the aftermath of the city's destruction. Not sure which ending Baldur's Gate 3 this show will adapt whether the party was led by Tav or Durge, or how it deals with the possible fates of the companions. Fans will have to be patient for now.

The HBO adaptation takes place right after BG3
Mazin is watching this adaptation from a fan perspective because he is a big fan. He allegedly played Dungeons and Dragonsas a Dungeon Master, aged 15, and allegedly defeated Baldur's Gate 3 in Honor mode. Speaking about his work on the adaptation, Mazin noted,
“After putting almost 1000 hours into an incredible world Baldur's Gate 3it's a dream come true to be able to continue the story that Larian and Wizards of The Coast have created.”
Mazin continued, “I'm a devoted fan of D&D and the wonderful way Swen Vincke and his talented team have adapted it. I can't wait to help bring Baldur's Gate and all of its incredible characters to life with as much respect and love as possible, and I am deeply grateful to Gabe Marano and his team at Hasbro for entrusting me with this incredibly important property.”
With no acquaintance Baldur's Gate A game in development, Mazin is said to have freedom with the story, the past (BG1+2), present (BG3), and the future (its adaptation). While plot details are under wraps and likely still being tweaked, it's said to follow traditional Dungeons and Dragons storytelling about new characters who aren't all that powerful until… well, they're able to kill a god at the end. It's uncertain whether these new characters will make it that far, but they'll meet beloved and (rightfully) hated characters Baldur's Gate 3.
Mazin reportedly plans to reach out Baldur's Gate 3 actors with ideas and hope to participate in a TV adaptation if possible. It's hard to imagine anyone else voicing beloved characters like Astarion, Karlach, and Shadowheart when they're perfectly played by Neil Newbon, Samantha Béart, and Jennifer English (among many other cast members BG3). At least Neil Newbon has said he's open to reprising Astarion in the past.
