Helldivers 2 CEO wants to see strategy adaptation
Through v Helldivers 2 Discord, one user asked about the possibility of customizing Stratagem in the future. The player claimed he wanted to “swap the HMG on the back of my FRV for a Maxigun or Grenade Launcher”, to which Jorjani claimed “100% for more customization. Personally speaking.” It doesn't necessarily mean that, of course Helldivers 2 Stratagems will be customizable soon, but it's good to know that the developer is aware of this and CEO Jorjani is open to the idea. The fact that he repeats that the “more customization” approach is his personal opinion slows it down a bit, as it doesn't necessarily represent broader views Helldivers 2 studio.
Players must use strategies exactly as they are. Before everyone has to choose their loading strategy Helldivers 2 missions, but that's not quite the same as customizing the specifics of each one. User in Helldivers 2 Discord wanting to modify his Rapid Reconnaissance Vehicle with a Grenade Launcher instead of an HMG is actually a great example of how this could work in practice. These aren't wholesale customizations, but small tweaks that players can tailor to their own playstyle. In practice, this would be a massive update that has the potential to make a difference Helldivers 2 meta, so it's understandable that it might not be Arrowhead's top priority right now. But for the depth it could add to the game, it would certainly be worth it at some point.
As it stands, customizing v Helldivers 2 is limited to weapons and characters. It's not a huge amount, although recent leaks have suggested Helldivers 2 in the future there could be customization of the ship. Despite this, it's clear that it has the potential for a lot more customization options. It's hard to imagine how players having more options could turn out to be a bad thing for the game.
At the moment, Helldivers 2 is still in the midst of changing its approach to development after well-documented performance issues with the game. And while he's in better shape than he was, he's still not perfect in that regard. By reshaping how it evolves Helldivers 2 at this crucial juncture, Arrowhead Game Studios has the potential to secure a much more stable future for the game by making sure it doesn't find itself in such a situation again. If wishlist features like Stratagem customization are going to become a reality in the future, it's important that the game is in the best possible place before they become a priority again.
