Arrowhead Game Studios rose to prominence with the release Helldivers 2 last year. Its unexpected massive success meant that the developer was suddenly involved in maintaining one of the largest live service games in the world, a tough call for any studio. In the period from Helldivers 2 has gone through a number of controversies, but remains a thriving title with a dedicated player base. When developer Arrowhead Game Studios finally releases another game, it will no doubt spark a lot of curiosity about how the developer follows it up. Helldivers 2.

Arrowhead Dev says the studio's next game will be similar to Helldivers 2
Speaking to GamesRadar+ at the 2025 Golden Joystick Awards, Arrowhead Game Studios CCO Johan Pilestedt stated that the developer is “trying to continue the legacy of what we've already created” with its next game. “It won't be something that's too far off Helldiversso all people who are massive Helldivers fans will be able to jump into the next game and at least get to know the DNA,” Pilestedt said. Helldivers 2 fans – it's easy to forget that the 2024 sequel was a risky genre change for her Helldivers a franchise that paid off massively.
But players shouldn't expect this mysterious game to arrive anytime soon. Pilestedt explained that the next Arrowhead title is still in early development. “It's the part I love the most,” he said. “When you put a new team together, break down all the boundaries between each other, really get to the core of who we are as people and what games we want to make together.”
The question still remains as to what the next Arrowhead game will actually be. As of September 2025, the developer said it has no plans Helldivers 3and comments made prior to this suggest that this is more likely Helldivers 2Continued support will truly turn 2024 into its own sequel. And while some may find this disappointing, it opens the door for Arrowhead to become known as more than just “Helldivers studio,” a risk that would jump right into a sequel. However, it's likely that players will be waiting a long time before the developer is ready to reveal its next game.
