A hidden gem is a colorless card that costs (1) energy to play. Being a colorless card means there are only a select few ways to get it. However, it is usable by all five characters Slay the Spire 2.
The most common way to find a Hidden Gem is through a merchant. Search the map for bags of gold and plan a route that will take you to the shop. The merchant sells a variety of goods, including five character-specific cards, three relics, three potions, and two choices of colorless cards. If you're lucky, the Hidden Gem might be one of these two options.
The merchant's items for sale will change each time you visit them. If you don't find a Hidden Gem on your first visit, try to find a merchant in another location to give yourself another chance.
Antiquities and unknown events
Another way to get a hidden gem is to get a blessing from an ancient v Slay the Spire 2. At the beginning of each act, you will encounter the Ancient One, who will offer you three beneficial options. It will occasionally offer the New in Act 1 option choose one of the two colorless cards through Lead paperweight remuneration. Although a rare card in its own right, Hidden Gem could be one of those two options.
Alternatively, Unknown Rooms (marked with a question mark on your map) will often give you the chance to get a colorless card. If you're lucky, you can get a hidden gem this way.
Relics and cards
If you can't find a hidden gem through a merchant, there is still hope. Some relics and cards in Slay the Spire 2 gives you methods to add colorless cards to your deck, either permanently or just in your current fight.
Relics that help you get colorless cards include:
- Worn carpet: Card rewards can now contain colorless cards.
- Toolbox: At the start of each battle, choose 1 of 3 random colorless cards and add the selected card to your hand.
- Orange dough: At the start of each battle, add 2 random colorless cards to your hand.
Some cards will also add colorless cards to your hand or deck. The Regentin particular, it has several cards that help.

How Replay works in Slay the Spire 2
Play again is a new effect in Slay the Spire 2 this causes cards to be played multiple times based on their replay value. A hidden gem grants Replay 2 to a random card in your draw pile, meaning that whenever that card is played, then it is played twice more for the rest of the fight.
Almost any card affected by Hidden Gem will be of great benefit to you. Even if it lands on Strike or Defend – it's still basically three Strikes or three Defenses for the cost of one. Best of all is the Hidden Gem does not run out during playbackso it can be used as many times as you draw it in battle.
If you can find a Hidden Gem card, it's definitely worth adding to your deck. In particular, decks that contain multiple Force cards could potentially snowball, making your character an unstoppable force for the rest of your run.
