Honkai Star Rail current banners, other banners and past banners
Honkai: Star Rail always has two cycles of active warp banners, and here's everything players need to know about them.
Which 5 stars should you get from the opening reception?
Getting a 5 star unit is a big deal for everyone HSR player as it can greatly improve one of their team comps. When choosing a free 5 star unit, it's important to look at character Eidolons as they can be more valuable than getting a character you don't own. It's also important to consider what teams and characters you already have. No one wants to end up with a character they don't have a team for, nor are they willing to get them their team. Here is a free 5 star pick list of characters included in the opening reception event in Honkai: Star Rail.
Jing Yuan
His days were short
Jing Yuan is actually one of the weakest characters on this free 5 star pick list. Being one of the classic 5-star units, his kit is outdated and can't deal with the DMG that other DPSs offer today. Jing Yuan might later get a buff that puts him on par with current characters. But as of now, Jing Yuan is one of the worst options on this free 5 star pick list.
- Conclusion: Don't get Jing Yuan if you don't like his design.
Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae
Be the highest DPS
Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae is another character betrayed by time or the Devs team itself. It's an outdated main DPS that requires an entire team to work for it. Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae consumes a lot of skill points, so characters like Sparkle are a must have in his teams. He is slightly better than Jing Yuan in this opening reception, but not at all comparable to the other DPS units on this list.
- Conclusion: Don't buy the Dana Heng Imbibitor Lunae if you don't like its design.
Jingle
Still irrelevant even after The Buff
Unfortunately, Jingliu is one of those characters that you can't wait for to be buffed because he already has it, and he's still average DPS. Honkai: Star Rail. Her deck relies heavily on other characters while she delivers some incredible DMG. It is better to avoid it.
- Conclusion: Don't get Jinglia if you don't like her design.
Acheron
Even Meta gets Powercrept
Acheron is one of those characters that still barely delivers, especially if you get her E2 which improves her rotations and allows her to cast her Ultimate more often. However, Acheron needs an investment to build and a dedicated team that can effectively debuff enemies during combat. All this, just so that nowadays it is still not at the level of the current DPS. So it is also better not to pick Acheron during this free 5 star pick list.
- Conclusion: Only get Acheron if you are close or willing to go for her E2S0. Still, it's better to avoid it.
Adventurous
Still viable as a support
Aventurine is the first real choice in this free 5 star selection list Honkai: Star Rail. While it doesn't offer the DMG or utility that new sustain characters can provide, it can still provide an unbreakable shield to ensure your team survives the toughest content in the game. Additionally, Aventurine spawns a lot of Follow-up attacks during combat, making it a solid choice for Follow-up teams in Honkai: Star Rail.
- Conclusion: Aventurine only go if you lack sustain characters.
Kafka
S-Tier, but with conditions
Recent changes to Kafka and Black Swan have greatly improved DoT combat Honkai: Star Rail. Not only that, Hysilens made it to the Kafka teams and further improved her team's performance. Without Black Swan and Hysilens, Kafka is underpowered at best and unable to hold his own weight during combat.

Discover the top rated support characters in Honkai: Star Rail for optimal gameplay.
Note that if you get Kafka from the Opening Reception event, you have to go after Black Swan and Hysilens, which is an expensive hunt. It's an expensive team that may or may not survive the constant changes in the meta game. So choose Kafka only if you have or are willing to go for Black Swan and Hysilens Honkai: Star Rail.
- Conclusion: Only get Kafka if you have or are willing to go for Black Swan and Hysilens.
Spark
Must-Have With Her Buff
Sparkle is one of the best options on this free 5-star pick list, especially after the recent buffs that take her kit to another level. Not only that, but even if you already have Sparkle, her E1 is another great addition to her utility as it increases her team's ATK by 40% while permanently increasing her SPD by 15%. Her E2 offers the team to ignore up to 30% of enemies' DEF, which is even crazier. Not to mention Sparkle is currently one of the best supports for characters like Archer and Sparxie who are some of the best DPS units in Honkai: Star Rail.
- Conclusion: Sparkle is a must-have even if you already have it on E0 or E1.
