Naruto Uzumaki lost Kurama's power in the battle against Isshiki Otsutsuki by using Baryon mode. In order to defeat Isshiki, who had unexplained powers, Naruto had to rely on another transformation that put both his and Kurama's lives at risk. Using their chakra as material to create a new energy form, both Naruto and Kurama used Baryon Mode, which eventually depleted their chakra to the point where Kurama simply ceased to exist.
Naruto definitely managed to defeat Isshiki, but it changed his life forever because Kurama's death made him no longer a monster in battle. With Kurama no longer around, Naruto's strongest ability became Sage Mode, essentially changing his entire character forever.

The same goes for the Rasengan, and almost all of his abilities revolve around these two techniques, including the Rasenshuriken. This very logic also applied to his transformations. Once Naruto used Kurama's power, all he used in battle was that ability.

For Naruto, Kishimoto often relied heavily on Kurama's powers. The complete removal of Kurama is a huge blessing in itself. While this may have caused a problem initially since Naruto isn't as strong anymore, it will force him to evolve in a way where he becomes more versatile in combat and utilizes some of his lesser known abilities.

Expanding on Naruto's new abilities in Boruto
After losing Kurama, Naruto is forced to expand his other abilities. For example, immediately after losing Kurama, Kishimoto revealed that Naruto now has an enhanced version of Sage Mode. Unfortunately, this Sage Mode hasn't been fully seen in action yet, but it's already a big step in the right direction.
More than that, it's a known fact that as Hokage, Naruto knows all five nature transformations, but because of Kurama, he never really used them in battle because he never needed to. Now, when he returns, he can make full use of the five natures. Additionally, losing Kurama will also force Naruto to grow stronger. This means that he will come with new abilities that fans have never seen before, which will once again push him to expand his skill set even further.

Right now, Naruto Uzumaki is sealed away, meaning he won't get any chance to show off his new powers anytime soon. It's a fact that he'll be back sooner or later in the story, and when he does, he's sure to be in for some exciting battles. In these battles, Naruto will use not only his advanced Sage Mode, but also the five nature transformations. Additionally, any new abilities Naruto comes up with will also be used in this battle.
It should be noted that Sasuke Uchiha became so powerful during the timeskip that he was able to counter the Code, which was canonically stated to be stronger than Jigen. As such, it is entirely possible to strengthen Naruto even without Kurama, and this opens up a new world of possibilities that can become Naruto's greatest strength. This means fans could see new transformations or new unique jutsu that take him to a whole new level. Either way, Naruto losing Kurama might be a loss, but it also makes him a much better character, provided Kishimoto and Ikemoto put some focus on the future.
