Updated February 28, 2026 by Jessica Orr: Lucas is the final boss of the Not a Hero DLC for Resident Evil 7, and he's a pretty formidable opponent no matter what difficulty you're playing on. There are a few tricks you need to implement in order to kill the son of the Bakers on the hinges. We've updated this page with more pictures and a few more tips to help you take down Lucas as quickly and easily as possible.

How to beat Lucas in Resident Evil 7 (Preparation)

Before the fight, you have to go through the corridors to find a locked door that requires energy. Lucas can be seen through the glass windows, frantically working on the computer. Go through the door on the left at the end of the corridor to find the switch. When Lucas returns to the lobby, he sees Chris and runs out of the room. Follow him through the locked door once the power ends.

The corridor behind the locked door will be guarded by a turret. Take a quick left and enter the room Lucas was in before to find some incendiary grenades and a lock handle. You will also have the opportunity to save and use the item box one last time before the final fight with Lucas.

When you're ready, head back down the hall towards the tower. If you crouch to the left by the curtain in front of the turret, you can open the locker to find some shotgun shells. Walk around the tower and go through the door at the end of the corridor. After a short conversation, Lucas attacks Chris from behind and pins him to the ground, causing Chris to shoot Lucas in the head. Lucas then mutates into a three-headed monster and the showdown begins.

How to beat Lucas in Resident Evil 7 (Combat)

You will have a few moments before the fight begins to open the many crates scattered around the room andshoot the anti-regeneration (RAMROD) rounds from the machine shelf in the middle of the room. This time should be used as efficiently as possible, as mutated Lucas is incredibly aggressive and has a jump lunge that he can use at close range, making looting during combat very risky.

Once the fight is in full swing, you'll want to focus fire on Lucas' head or a weak spot on his chest deal maximum damage. Using the RAMROD ammo will stagger Lucas, similar to the big White Molded boss fight, and expose a red weak spot on his chest for follow-up damage with a normal weapon (shotgun is best here).

About halfway through the fight, Lucas will momentarily retreat to the top of the machine in the central area (directly above where the RAMROD ammo box is located) and begin releasing spores into the room. Even with the improved respirator, Chris's oxygen levels begin to drop. Lucas returns to his onslaught, now even more aggressive and able to jump over the machine and attack.

Keep taking damage and avoiding Lucas, keeping an eye out for the green flashing lights on the walls. These lights indicate oxygen stations that you can use to restore your breathing abilities when oxygen levels drop critically. Oxygen stations can't be used while charging or healing, and bad timing can give Lucas an opportunity to swoop in and deal significant damage.

Stay out of range and focus on Lucas' weak spot until he staggers and melts. An ending cutscene will begin and Chris will finish Lucas and his sick game for good.
