Instructions for fighting the twin lions
They are twins one of the hardest bosses in the game currently due to combination high damage attacks and unpredictable animations. The boss makes tiny movements during each of his animations, which is to be expected given his design, but it leads to a lot of ill-timed parrying and late dodges.
Twin Lions incorporate fireworks into many of their attacks. The common attack they use is on them by swiping diagonally when unleashing a fireworks explosioncausing damage over a large area. Although you can parry this attack, extremely short winding making it difficult to see the arrival.
Sometimes it happens with Twin Lions too jump backwards into the air before throwing firework bombs on you When you see the boss jump into the air, get ready deflect a firework bomb for some free Qi gauge damage.
They will be often too stand up straight before bringing the lion's head down on you in a pretty standard attack. This is a bit easier to bounce due to longer reel. Similarly, Twin Lions will often perform a a quick head bang followed by a leg sweep. Even if you get hit by a head bang, spam the parry button to parry leg sweeps.
They have twins two golden attacks. I have the first one rush at youwhich sends you flying if it hits you. This attack does a ton of damage, but is relatively easy to avoid once you get the timing down.
Their second golden attack will be the first create pillars around the arenawhich they then climb. Afterwards, the boss will pounce on you; the only way to avoid this attack is dodge just before they hit you. If there is a pillar in their diving path, the boss will jump onto it. Run over to the pillar and press the challenge button to kick them outdeals high damage and makes them vulnerable for a few seconds.
Sometimes the button prompt doesn't appearat this point you'll need to retreat and carefully avoid any follow-up attacks. This is most likely a bug.
The Twin Lions have another pillar attack in which they climb up them dive in your direction. You can either dodge this as a golden version of the attack or bounce at the last second.
They have twins one red attack: sweep followed by an uppercut. Parry the second hit of the attack counterattack.
Very rarely, Twin Lions will move to the center of the arena and get started throwing fireworks in all directions. The intended way to deal with this attack is shoot a fire arrow at the boss's headbut we find that you don't have nearly enough time to draw your bow and aim your arrow before the fireworks start exploding. If this is also your case, that's enough avoid fireworks instead.
Phase 2
Once you deplete the boss's first health bar, the fight will enter the second phase, which is essentially the same, except that all of the Twin Lions' attacks will faster and stronger. Plus his animations will be even more unpredictablewith very slight differences or more moves before and during each attack.
The firework bomb attack will also trigger a second bomb after the firstso be prepared to fend them both off.
A new attack during this phase has a boss spin while setting off fireworks. You are able to use Meridian Touch interrupt this attack, but like the other firework attacks, it's difficult to hit this challenge while avoiding the firework, especially if you're close to the boss when he starts using this attack.
Overall, this boss will test your patience (especially with the cutscene before each attempt). Take it slow and learn which attacks you can comfortably parry and which ones are better to avoid. If all else fails, consider lowering the difficulty or turning on assisted deflection. We won't judge you; this one is brutal.
