God of War Ragnarok Relics Explained
God of War Ragnarok made some significant changes to the equipment Kratos uses in battle. While the primary weapon systems remain largely the same, players will find out Ragnarokis new Relic the mechanic completely changes the way certain items are used. The talismans are gone for good. Kratos now has a single amulet that has spells equipped in it, and all special moves that were associated with talismans have now been replaced relic, which have many forms.
God of War Ragnarok Relics Explained
They exist 14 relics in God Of War Ragnarok, each has its own unique function or benefit. These range from passive boosts like Gift of Strength from Talisman of Meignwhich increases melee attack power, to special attacks such as Motsognir's Call. Players will have a wide range of options, with different relics supporting different play styles. Kratos will collect relics in various ways along his journey. Some will be rewards for defeating difficult bosses and others will be found through exploration.

Relic Updates:
Like most of Kratos' other tools, Relics can be upgraded. The process is similar to leveling up rune attacks and uses XP that Kratos earns in battle. To upgrade a relic, highlight the desired item in the menu and an upgrade menu will appear in the bottom center of the screen. Each relic has three levels, with each item starting at level one, followed by two possible upgrades. The cost of upgrades varies for each relic, with rarer items usually costing more.
Talisman of Meign
Since all Cooldowns are affected by related stats, the length of Cooldowns can vary depending on what an individual player's Cooldown stat is. In this guide, all cooldowns are based on stat level 100.

How to get Talisman of Meign:
- Location: Applecore, Svartalfheim
The Talisman of government will be the first Relic players get in God of War Ragnarok. It appears automatically when searching for Tyr in Applecore, during the first trip to Svartalfheim. You will find the relic when you come across a dead body stuck in a crack in the wall. Interact with the body to get the Talisman of Meign.

How to get a record player:
- Location: Temple of Light, Alfheim
During Chapter 4, Kratos will have to fight his way through the Temple of Light again. To find the Hit of Gram, you'll need to start in the chamber just before the main platform surrounding the Light of Alfheim. If you've already reached the Light, start there and go up the stairs and through the door. In the chamber in front of the Light, you'll notice that you have to drop down to a lower level to use a wheel that will lower the reflective surface. From the wheel you can see a round door to another chamber. There is a small puzzle that will allow you to open the Legendary Chest in the next chamber. The chest holds Gram's hilt.

How to get the Angrvadall handle:
- Location: The Barrens, Alfheim
This Sword hilt relic is one of four special items that make up a special favor known as “Lost pagesInstead of finding the item itself, you'll find one of the four lost pages and then be able to craft the item once you have the required materials.
The Lost Page that allows Angrvadall's handle to be created is located at the northern end of the Barrens in Alfheim. At the location marked on the map above, you'll find a circular set of ruins. In this location you will find a Legendary Chest guarded by two Dark Elves. On the ground next to the chest is a Lost Page.
Where to find Skirnir's Gambanteinn:
This item can only be found after Chapter 9 and is given as a reward for completing several side quests and defeating the Gravel Belly boss. Complete the following quests in Alfheim:
After completing these tasks, you will be able to craft the Angrvadall Handle.

How to get Glaive of Dodher:
- Location: Abandoned Village, Vanaheim
This relic is easy to obtain as Kratos simply has to defeat Fiske, the formidable Einherjar boss fought in Chapter 6 – The Reckoning. This fight is a can't miss and Kratos will automatically collect the Glaive of Dodher upon defeat.

How to get a Ridill handle:
- Location: Lost Treasury, Midgard
The second “Lost Pages” Sword Halt Relic can be found inside The lost treasury in Midgard. Unfortunately, reaching The Lost Treasury is not an easy task. To do this you will need to collect two keys, one from The Oarsmen and the other from the Derelict Outpost – both in Midgard. With these keys you will then have to solve the puzzle of the large shield in front of the treasury. Once inside, you'll find the scroll you want in the pit to the left of the entrance.
How to get Crackle of Bilskinir:
Fortunately, this item requires Kratos to complete one favor: “Animal instinctsAt the end of this favor you will fight Olaf Nautson. Defeating this raider will complete the favor and reward you with the required material.

How to get the Dainsleif handle:
- Location: Forbidden Sands, Alfheim
The third “Lost Pages” Sword Halt Relic is found in a set of Light Elf ruins in Forbidden Sands. This location is only accessible after clearing the sandstorm and is the same location where 'The Elven Sanctum' takes place. The building has a large chamber with several tables and books. Head to the back of the chamber to find a scroll sitting on a table.
Where to find Svefnthorn:
Svefnthorn is received as a reward for completing the “Lost Treasure” favor in Svartalfheim. You will need to obtain Draupnir to complete this favor. Head to Dragon Beach in Svartalfheim and climb to the top of a large wooden structure. Here you will meet a ghost offering the favor of 'The Lost Treasure'.

How to get Tyrfing Handle:
- Location: Wishing Well, Vanaheim
The Tyrfing Handle is the final relic of the “Lost Pages” sword hilt and can only be found after completing Chapter 13 and the “Scent of Survival” favor. This will unlock The Crater area in northern Vanaheim. The crafting recipe scroll can be found near the Wishing Well, just before the shortcut that leads to the Mystic Gateway.
How to get Nara's Cup:
Nar's Cup takes out Blatonn, a boss you'll find very close to where Kratos fought Niðhögg in Vanaheim. To find him, follow the main path to the right of the boss arena and you'll eventually reach him.

How to get Mystical Legacy:
- Location: Lake Nine, Midgard
South of Tyr's temple in Midgard, you may have noticed a glowing yellow spot on a long ice wall just before the path to the Lost Treasury. Once you have Draupnir, return to this location and blast the ice wall with the spear. You can find the mystical legacy behind the ice wall. This item is only used to awaken the Slumbering Trolls found around the Nine Realms, which are required to obtain the Steinbjorn Armor Set.

How to get a Hofud handle:
- Location: Main story mission, Vanaheim
The Handle of Hofud is automatically awarded to Kratos after defeating Heimdall in Vanaheim.
Hrotti's handle

Uses a mark on nearby enemies. Attacking a marked enemy reduces runic Cooldowns of equipped weapons. Killing the marked enemy will give you Blessing of Runic. |

How to get the Hrotti handle:
- Location: Crater, Vanaheim
This is another handle that can only be obtained by players upon achievement Crater in Vanaheim. There are three Traveler bosses in the area that Kratos will encounter. One is encountered on the way to The Sinkhole area, another is found in the southwestern part of The Plains, but only at night, and the third is near the Overgrown Tower. You can fight these enemies in any order, and the handle will drop from whichever traveler Kratos defeats second.

How to get a Motsognir call:
- Location: Aesir prison wreck, postgame Niflheim
After fully completing the main story, head to the mystical gate of The Raven Tree in Niflheim. Just before the tree, you'll find a new path that branches off to the left and leads to Odin's personal prison. Make your way through the prison until you reach the opposite side of the upper floor from where you entered. There you will find a Legendary Chest. Just behind the chest you'll find a dead body on the ground and a tuning fork next to it. the tuner is actually the Relic you're looking for.

This is the only relic that can be bought directly from the store without any additional requirements. However, it is only available after completing the main story.

How to get the Forsbrandr handle:
- Location: Raven Tree, Niflheim
This handle can only be obtained after destroying Kratos all 48 of Odin's ravens. Once you've done that, head back to the Raven Tree in Niflheim and you'll have to fight him Guardian of Ravens. Defeating this difficult boss will reward you Jílec Forsbrandr.

How to get the Skofnung Handle:
The hilt itself is given to Kratos during “The Word of Fate”, but is not available for use as a Relic until Kratos completes an extremely difficult task. Initially, the only use for this handle is to gain access to all 10 Berserker fights. This includes the final battle with King Hrolf, King of the Berserkers. Defeating Hrolf will allow Kratos to access the Skofnung Handle at its full potential.
