While exploring the planet Arcadia-7 in StarRuptureyou will come across many mysterious places and items, many of which can be mined or researched for resources. There are meteorites to smash, bugs to fend off, and some strange vine-covered areas that seem to hold secrets.
What are these eerie pits and what treasures do they hide? Here's everything you need to know about finding and uncovering underground caverns in StarRupture and what to do if you get stuck down there.
How to find underground caves
You will find many of them as you wander the land in StarRupture strange extraterrestrial sourcesore outcrops and insect infestation. Most things can be easily gathered, mined or won with yours hands, combine or weapon. Eventually, however, you will find medium-sized ones as well patch of overgrown vines which cannot be dug up or destroyed by hand or weapon.
There are at least a few of them ten of these underground caves discovered so far and many more to come with future StarRupture exploration and updates.
These vines cover an underground cavern rich in resourcesbut they are open only for a short time after the wave breaks before the vine covers them again. The first one you come across will probably be nearby calcium ore north of the Orbital Lander siteor until south of the Orbiter as you head towards the toxic green biome.

Underground caves are marked on the map when exploring or when activated and Geo scannerrevealing large areas on the map. At first, the spots will appear as a question mark until you get close to them. You can recognize caves by circle icon which appears on the map when you approach.

How to enter an underground cave
To get to the underground cave and tunnels you have to wait for the burst wave to pass safe in your Habitat before venturing out once it passes.
There's not much time to spare since the pits will eventually close, it's best to explore the area beforehand. Make sure map the land around your base until you find the nearest pit overgrown with vinesthen wait in your Habitat until the wave passes. As soon as it is safe to do so, when the temperature drops to a safe level, but the environment is still dark and dustyleave the base and head straight for the cave entrance.
You will now find that the cave is open and the vineyards have disappeared. You can climb down into the cave using the white dead vines, or just carefully jump and use your boost to save you from falling damage.
The entrance will be open until it is dark outsidebut once the planet begins to rejuvenate, the pit closes. Quickly harvest the ore and plants from inside before the vines overgrow and the cave entrance closes.
How to leave the underground cave
The tunnels inside the cave contain rare resources found only in cave systems. You can gather here Glow Cap hand-crafted from tall, yellow, mushroom-looking plants and Quartz ore from blue crystal formations.

It doesn't seem possible to explore more than two caves before the planet comes back to life and the holes are closed again. It depends on how close the caves are and how quickly you can scavenge resources and move to the next one before it closes.
Unfortunately, Quartz and Glow Cap are not easily “grindable” sources when you want to collect important things. Instead, you should take every opportunity after the wave to head to the nearest cave.

Exiting the cave is easy while you can get to the entrance where did you fall As long as the hole hasn't closed, you can climb dead vines and get to the surface.
