One of the first things you do StarRupture is to build a basic core. This structure protects your others from the heat waves that occur on Arcadia-7 and is basically the main frame of your entire base. However, as you start adding more and more structures, you will need to increase the capacity of the base core to prevent it from overheating and completely destroying the base when a heatwave occurs. However, this comes with its own risks. In this guide, I will explain everything you need to know about how to increase the capacity of the base core StarRuptureand what to expect when you do.
How to destroy buildings and dorms in StarRupture
Demolish buildings and dormitories as you continue to expand your base in StarRupture to improve your layout and make your work more efficient.
How to increase base core capacity in StarRupture
To increase the base core capacity, you must go to the base core structure itself and press E to interact with it. This should bring up a screen where you can choose to upgrade your base core and outline the required materials you'll need to do so. For example, to upgrade a base core to level 2, you will need the following materials:
These are not small amounts, just like the materials Helium and Ceramics that you will be able to start making right at the beginning of the game. Therefore, you will need to take advantage of setting up multiple bases across Arcadia-7 to maximize your production efforts.
Alternatively, if you don't have the materials to commit to upgrading your base core this substantially, you can always use “base core boosters” to increase capacity by a small amount. Basic Core Boosters v.1 and v.2 are unlocked through Moon Energy Corporation at level 6 and level 9 respectively.
A base core booster will increase the capacity of each base core placed within its range, meaning you can build an extra structure or two in each base depending on how close you are to maxing out their capacity already.
What does increasing core core capacity do?
Increasing the capacity of the base core basically allows your base to take in more heat and dissipate it faster after cracking. This means that you can have multiple structures or “machines” at one base, allowing you to complete the corporation's missions more quickly. It also means you can get them all up and running much faster after the tear.
However, upgrading the base kernel comes with a downside. The vermin (read: aliens) on the planet won't take too kindly to your actions and will start attacking your base. This will happen fairly regularly, so you'll want to make sure you've unlocked the turret acquisition recipe and really beefed up your base's defenses before upgrading your base core. If a blue-bodied Vermin enters your base and explodes, it can infect it and render it completely unusable until you clear the infection. It might not sound that complicated, but when your base is flooded with Vermin at the same time, it's no walk in the park.
