How to make it rain in Pokemon Legends: ZA

During a tour of the city of Luimose v Pokemon Legends: ZAyou may have noticed that the weather changes periodically, and if you're lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of a rainbow over Lumios from time to time. Like other Pokémon games, the weather changes in Legends: ZA aren't just for show.

Many Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: ZA only appear in certain weather conditions, similar to how some only appear during the day or night. In addition to weather being a requirement for certain spawns, some Pokémon, like Sliggoo, also require certain weather conditions to evolve, so it's important to know how to reset the weather when you need it.

How to change the weather

A trainer posed with a thumbs up in front of the bright sun in Pokemon Legends: ZA.

While it would be nice to be able to select the weather option and leave it on command, unfortunately that is not an option. However, although it is lengthy, you can trigger a weather change at any time until you get the weather you're looking for.

All you have to do is do it access any bench in Pokemon Legends: ZA and select the “kill some time here” option as it will then fast forward to either day or night depending on which one you are on.

If you're having trouble finding a bench because they seem to be everywhere until you actually need one, quickly head to any Pokemon Center. Each Pokemon Center has one bench outside which you can use to kill time.

They exist six different weather conditions to encounterand you should be able to see which one you will have as you transition from night to day. The different weather conditions you can get are listed below:

Description

Clear Sky icon in Pokemon Legends_ ZA.

Clear sky

This is it the most common the weather in Lumios, where the sun shines brightly over the city.

Intense Sun icon in Pokemon Legends_ ZA.

Intense sun

That's one you'll also sometimes see during certain points of the day. It's mostly the same as clear skies, but with more intense sunlight.

Icon cloudy in Pokemon Legends_ ZA.

Cloudy

This weather condition consists of large dark clouds across the sky Lumiose, but no rain.

Rain icon in Pokemon Legends_ ZA.

Rain

Rain can be a bit hard to see when it's happening, but overall grim look cities can help you know when it's going to rain.

Mist icon in Pokemon Legends_ ZA.

Fog

As the most oddly disturbing weather condition of the bunch, the fog is easily recognizable as you will see it covering the streets of Lumiose.

Rainbow weather icon in Pokemon Legends: ZA.

Rainbow

Similar to clear skies, except you will see a rainbow over the city when you look up

To check the weather at any time, open the map and look in the upper right corner for a small weather icon. If you're skipping days, keep that in mind some weather conditions such as rain and fog only occur for a small part of the day. So it might honestly be best if you just keep an eye on the weather while doing other tasks in Lumios, rather than skipping days to trigger a weather change.

If you notice the weather changing to what you need, go ahead and save so you can back out and restart if you miss catching the Pokemon you need in this weather.

Pokemon spawn that change based on the weather

Alpha Goomy was featured in Pokemon Legends: ZA.

As mentioned, there are a few Pokemon that you won't be able to find unless the weather conditions are right. Most weather conditions will not affect the spawn rate, but clear skies and rain will. For a complete list Pokemon that only spawn under certain weather conditionsplease see the table below:

Weather

A Pokemon is spawning

Clear sky or intense sun

  • Riola

  • Helioptile

  • Eevee

  • Skarmory — Will also appear in Cloudy

Rain

  • Goomy — only near bodies of water.

  • Sliggoo – only near bodies of water.

Of course, there are other Pokemon that only appear during specific weather conditions, but they are not currently in Pokemon Legends: ZA and thus have no meaning here.

How to turn Sliggoo into Goodra during rainy weather

The trainer posed next to a happy Goodry in Pokemon Legends: ZA.

at this time the only Pokemon that requires certain weather conditions to evolve is Sliggoo. To evolve Sliggoo into Goodra, you'll need to do this raise Sliggoo to level 50 and then wait for it to start raining. As already said, you can induce a change in the weather by resting on the benches, but be careful.

Weather conditions end quite quickly, so if you don't want to waste time, then make sure you already have Sliggoo leveled up and ready to evolve before you start missing days due to weather changes. Once you notice it's raining, make sure Sliggoo is in your party and you should see the ability to evolve.
