How to prepare for Fallout Season 2

This article contains spoilers for Fallout season 1

Fallout Season 2 is just around the corner, and with Amazon's successful adaptation of the beloved franchise in 2024, it's no surprise that some fans want to do some prep work. Adaptations that stick to in-game lore are rare, while canonizing the show was a significant risk, but Season 1 managed to (more or less) honor the franchise's history and carve out its own place within it. Fallout Season 2 ups the ante by attempting the same feat, while this time around the beloved New Vegas title.

Fallout Season 2 has its work cut out for it, but so do the fans. After all, it's wizards and canon cops who will have to pull together all the potential Season 2 has in store. Fortunately, there's no better time to dive back into the irradiated world Fallout than the present, and there are plenty of great ways for fans to do just that.

  • Fallout Season 2 can be seen on Amazon Prime Video

  • The first episode premieres on December 17, with new episodes every following Wednesday

It may seem pointless to conjure it up first, but re-watch the first series Fallout it's practically essential for anyone who wants to stay sharp on a cannon as it stands. The show packed an incredible amount of lore-bomb into just eight episodes, so there's a generous amount of shrapnel of detail scattered about that will probably pay off in some form. Vault-Tec's relationship with Mr. House and the seemingly ruined state of the NCR are elements of Season 1 that probably deserve a second look before next season.

Special narrative attention should be paid to Ghoul's backstory and his pre-war flashbacks, as these moments were crucial to understanding how the characters and the world as a whole ended up so broken. Also noteworthy is the series' approach to more relevant lore, particularly the destruction of Shady Sands and the East Coast Brotherhood of Steel's expedition to the west. These massive changes in traditions establish a rich tapestry of unknowns which Fallout Season 2 will more than likely expand.

Replay Fallout New Vegas (again)

Being widely regarded as the best entry in the series and one of the best games, period, it's phenomenal news for new and old fans that New Vegas will be relevant to the season 2 arc. It does more than enough to provide appropriate context for what's to come in Season 2 Falloutbut Obsidian Entertainment's masterpiece is just that: a masterpiece. It features some of the most morally complex factional conflicts in gaming history, and while those elements may translate beautifully to the show format, fans should make sure to experience its greatness for themselves, just in case.

Choose a faction (and defend it forever)

Here's where things get personal: It will be important to choose your faction loyalty before Season 2 launches. Mr. House's autocratic vision of progress, the bureaucratically bloated democracy of the NCR, and the brutal order of Caesar's Legion all offer and mean different things in The Wastes and Beauty New Vegas each faction makes a compelling case for its worldview, even if its methods are questionable. Understanding these warring philosophies and their flaws will greatly enhance the viewing experience.

Whichever faction you choose, be prepared to defend it passionately Fallout the community lives for these debates. Season 2 is sure to reignite debates about which path best serves the people of Mojave, so it's best to get your opinion in advance. Just remember that everyone thinks they're doing the right thing in the apocalypse, even if they're objectively making things worse, like Caesar's Legion.

Add too many mods

To be clear, gaming New Vegas it probably means oblivion anyway. The modders basically kept it New Vegas alive for more than a decade, with borderline bug fixes, animation reworks, and even full-sized DLC-style mods that offer something entirely new (or entirely too difficult). It doesn't matter if players are looking for new weapons, questlines, or even the ability to turn every Deathclaw into Randy Savage; just know there is a mod for it. However, if you're trying to prepare for the show, it's probably best to keep it tradition-friendly.

Play Burning Springs Fallout 76 Update

Fallout 76 recently launched her Burning springs update and really worth checking out for both fans of the show and the franchise. Joining Bethesda's live service has come an incredibly long way since its launch, as it's now a truly enjoyable experience with solid content updates on offer. Fallout Season 1 directly influenced the Burning Springs map, for one. Burning springs expands the already impressive map of Appalachia to Ohio with new mysteries to uncover, bandits to defeat, and bounties to collect alongside the Ghoul, voiced by Walton Goggins himself.

For complete enthusiasts: Play Home Alone

Macaulay Culkin in Fallout Season 2

This next one might seem like an odd suggestion, but Macaulay Culkin has seemingly joined the cast Fallout Season 2 as a member of Caesar's Legion is more about the potential for a few worthwhile laughs. Watching Cherub Kevin McCallister Alone at home the potential transformation into a hardened member of a brutal, ancient Roman-inspired slave army presents one of the most wonderfully absurd and convincing acting possibilities imaginable. The tonal whip is worth the price of admission on its own, though it's also fitting given how close Season 2's release is to the holidays.

WITH Fallout Season 2 comes out on December 17th, Wasteland calls again. Preparation is half the fun with shows like this, so re-watch or dive into the first season again New Vegas. The franchise has always rewarded fans who pay attention to detail, and if Season 2 lives up to its promise of what made the first season such a hit, fans who stocked up have a lot to look forward to.
