How to beat the False Son in ROR2
Risk of Rain 2: Seekers of the Storm added several new survivors to the game, bringing the roster to a total of 17 playable characters (including the hidden Heretic class). One of these new survivors is the False Son, a burly bruiser with heavy melee and devastating laser attacks.
Unlike Chef in Risk of rain 2False Son is slower, but ironically more versatile when it comes to fighting things from a long distance. While unlocking this survivor is simple on paper, it's a lot harder to get right than some players may have expected.

How to unlock False Son in ROR2
To get the False Son ROR2players will have to he defeated the False Son himself when he carried the Halcyon Seed. That's easier said than done – you'll need a certain amount of luck to make it to the boss arena with a Halcyon Seed in hand, as well as the skill required to defeat the rather difficult boss fight that awaits.
Fight the False Son v Seekers of the Storm DLC, you will have to go through green portals instead of the usual teleport. You can summon one by activating the Halcyon Shrine, a new type of interactive object that siphons your money when you stand within its radius. These appear as pillars surrounded by emerald crystalsand it's pretty hard to miss them. Go through enough green portals and you'll find yourself in Prime Meridian, where the False Son awaits.
The more money Halcyon Shrine drains from you, the better rewards you'll get once the pillar is filled. You can cancel siphoning early to get modest rewards and the green portal will appear earlier.
When it comes to Halcyon Seed, either you will have to activate the altar of gold to get the golden portal that appears after the teleport event, or you have to be lucky and find the right dream portal in the Newt Bazaar. Either way, you'll end up on the Gilded Coast, where you have to fight an Aurelionite. Activate all seven pillars in the area to strip the boss of his shield and hit him with everything you've got.
How to beat the False Son in ROR2
False Son is a tricky boss to beat, even more so than Risk of rain 2 Occasionally Mithrix. His melee and splinter attacks are easily dodged, but he has a laser beam move similar to the Stone Titan's that can track your movements perfectly and potentially melt your entire health bar in seconds. To top it off, the third phase of the False Son removes all your abilitieswhich makes it impossible to defend yourself.
You will notice that they exist several cooperating geodetic pillars in the arena of the False Son. Activating them causes them to disintegrate and create a field that grants you and nearby allies a very strong shield. These are often enough to survive against the toughest boss attacks. More importantly, standing in these fields will restore your lost abilities.
General tips
- Bring on some drones before entering Prime Meridian. They will distract the boss for you while you scramble for cover.
- You can use the spikes on the ground as cover against the boss's laser.
- Always stand near the golden Geode pillar when the boss is about to enter the third stage.
- Don't activate the Geode Pillars until your abilities are gone.
- Geode pillars will reappear during the fight.
- Bring Potions of Power.
- Do not hug the cover. The boss's melee attacks can still hit you if you're standing too close behind an object.
