XP Boosters v Battlefield 6 it has to be activated before they can give you those sweet bonus points, but the game's UI can make things a bit confusing. Here's what you need to do to activate these tweaks.
Updated November 12, 2025 by Marco Santos: Season 1 of Battlefield 6 implemented a battle pass into the game that allowed players to unlock additional cosmetics and gear. However, the way BF6 does its combat walkthrough is a bit different from other games, and if you skipped Battlefield 2042, you might find it a bit confusing. We've updated this guide to include a section explaining how the BF6 Battle Pass works and how XP Boosters play a role in it.
How to activate XP Boosters in Battlefield 6
In order to use any XP Boosters stored in your account, you must enter a match first. Then press Escape/Start to open the game pause menu. At the top right of the screen you will see an XP Boost icon above the challenge list.
Select the XP Boost tab and a window will appear containing all the boosters you own and from there you can use the boosters you want. XP Boosters are stackable, so if you want to sit down for a long gaming session or farm to unlock new BF6 weapon, you may want to use more than one.
You can also activate XP Boosts in the main menu. While you're selecting a playlist to queue, you'll find the same XP Boost button at the top of the challenge list.
XP boosters v Battlefield 6 countdown in real time. This means their clock will still run even when you're in the main menu or just sitting idle on the loading screen or pre-game screen. XP will only increase the moment you turn on the booster. For this reason, we recommend turning on the XP boost only when you are already in the game.
Career vs Hardware Boosters
Career XP Boosters increase the amount of XP you earn at the main account level. If you want to rank quickly BF6, you'll want to take advantage of them and do your best to get a high score during the match to get the most out of your XP boost.
Meantime, Hardware boosters affect the XP earned by your weapons and vehicles. For those who weren't aware, weapons and vehicles now also use the XP system as their main form of progression. Previous Battlefield the games used a kill-based system.
Vehicles level up extremely fast Battlefield 6. Using XP Booster may not be necessary for them.
XP modifiers
In addition to consumable XP boosters, you'll also get 5% more XP just by owning the game. If you play with a party, you get an additional 5% bonus, so if you have some friends online, don't forget to play with them.
Breakthrough is a great mod for farming XP. If the match goes on long enough, you'll make great progress towards a few more unlocks.
Battlefield 6 Battle Pass and XP Boosters
The BF6 Battle Pass uses point system for unlocking items. Each battle pass has multiple reward lanes that players can activate, and only the active lane will receive any progress.
The amount of Career XP you earn at the end of a match will count as Battle Pass Resolution XP, and you can increase the amount of Battle Pass Resolution XP earned by activating the Battle Pass XP Booster using the same method as other boosters. The better you perform in a match, the more XP you get.
There are also weekly challenges BF6 which reward Battle Pass tokens when completed. These are not affected by Battle Pass XP Boosters.
