Correction of items in Soulmask can be done by hand or via a repair bench. The second option is usually better because not all devices can be repaired manually. Repair benches also allow your tribe members to automatically repair broken equipment when needed, saving you a lot of time and effort when it comes to keeping your entire tribe running efficiently. How to repair equipment in Soulmask
If you use basic equipment made of wood, stone or bone, you can repair it directly from your inventory by right-clicking on the item and selecting Repair. To do this, you need to have the right materials needed to repair your device. If you're standing within range of your Bonfire, the required material will automatically download from all nearby storage boxes, meaning you don't have to manually retrieve items.
How to use the Repair Bench in Soulmask
First, unlock the Repair Bench node on the tech tree (it's in the Medium Craftsmanship node below the second level), then build one for your base. Interact with him and you'll see a grid on the right where you can put all your broken equipment. If you press the Repair button below this grid, the Repair Bench will automatically repair all the devices in this grid for you one by one.
Can you automate repairs with a repair bench?
at the time of writing it's hard to tell if the natives actually auto-repair their broken equipment with the Repair Bench. We did catch one of our tribesmen repairing their scythe on one occasion, but that was when we were testing the repair automation, so we're not entirely sure if the NPC repairing their gear was a scythe-wielding harvester or a dedicated repairman we ordered to collect broken gear from a nearby box. The game's automation logic is kind of funny when it comes to automating gear repairs, and we're still trying to find a way to do it.
Regardless, if you want to check for yourself and see if the Repair Bench automation works, make sure you create an auto repair schedule by clicking the big plus sign in the repair shop menu and assign one of your people to be the manager of that particular repair shop. Ordering NPCs to take items from specific boxes can help with automation, but make sure the autosave feature in the Repair Bench is turned off.
How to repair ships and buildings in Soulmask
Enemies' attacks will usually damage some of your equipment, and if that's the case, you can repair your base (including your ship if you're playing on the Shifting Sands map) by creating a construction hammer. The recipe for this is under the Middle Building node on the Dawn of a New Tribe level.
When you equip your construction hammer, a list of controls will appear on the screen and you will be able to see the health values of the construction parts your crosshair is hovering over. Press the left mouse button to fix whatever you are aiming at. This consumes building materials, and if you don't have any in your inventory, the game will automatically use the materials stored in your chests and boxes, provided they are within range of your boat/fire construction.
