Who is ready for a lot of adults to break down the whole Pokemon community in another world -famous museum? No me! Despite the fact that it was a sequel to Ben Stiller, which no one asked for, the riots of the pokemon at the Van Gogh Museum was one of the most shameful things I have witnessed in the history of striking collection, and I have been in San Dieg Comic-Con ten times. This week, Pokemon announced another partnership of the museum, this time with the London Museum of Natural History. From next January, a gift shop in the museum will be converted into a pop -up shop Pokemon filled with clothes, stationery and exclusive plush.
I hope that Pokemon will take better preventive measures this time because I do not expect collectors to behave better. Just mentioning the exclusive museum sends shivers down my spine and I am sincerely shocked that another museum is willing to open its door such an angry fanbase after it happened in Amsterdam. For anyone who plans to visit the London Museum during promotion that you will ask you, can you only be normal in it?
Pokemon pop -up shop in the London Historical Museum scares me
The upcoming cooperation of the museum was announced at the beginning of this week on the Pokemon website. From January 26 to March 22, next year, a gift shop at the London Museum of Natural History will stop and a place in a place in a shop with Popek filled with a sweet, sweet and exclusive shop.
The last time Pokemon joined the museum, things couldn't be so good. To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the Amsterdam Van Gogh Museum joined with Pokemon to sell Playmats, on -board boxes and other Pokemon shop inspired by Van Gogh. This promotion included a free promo card, Pikachu with a gray felt hat, for participants who have completed the activity of hunting hunters in the museum. I am sure that all who are involved in it had the best intentions, but bad planning and the obvious lack of awareness of how Raveny Pokemon fans (and sellers) can lead to a dangerously chaotic event.
On the first day of promotion, this carefree event, which is to inspire children to take care of fine art, has immediately turned into a black Friday dave. The crushing of people trying to get into the gift shop and secure cards was so out of control that the museum immediately pulled promo cards from the store and forced Pokémon to find other means to distribute them. As we found out later, more employees were even released during the event, with at least one person to end the embezzling promo card. It was not a good look for anyone, and now, two years later, another museum opens its door to a potential poke-May.
Pokemon seems to have learned from the debacle of van Gogh
There are several differences between Van Gogh's promotion that gives me hope that it could be better this time. First of all, it does not seem that there are free promo cards for grabs. This should limit chaos a lot, but not completely. There will still be scalpers on a place that will be sold on the shirts and water bottles, but at least we will not have to take care of any embezzling cards or otherwise do not get harmful ways. Yet, if you have tried to buy pokemon cards in the department store at any time, Oh, I do not know, four years, you know that Pokemon fans are not always in their best behavior in these situations.
There is an exclusive plush, but it does not seem that people are fighting each other. It is Pikachu, which sticks to the side of the museum, which reminds of the best scene by Tom Hanks when asking the CEO of Toy Company, “What is fun on the building?”
If you want to access the gift shop, you will need to get a free online ticket in advance. Hopefully it means that the museum will be able to control crowds and ensure that the museum's days are not destroyed by people who are only there for trade – something that was the main problem in the Van Gogh Museum.
I do not think there is something wrong with these cooperation; In fact, I think it is great, that Pokemon helps to promote museums. But Pokemon's Raveny Fandom is a double sword and I hate to see that places like Van Gogh Museum have been the victim of this passion. Hopefully everyone has learned several lessons from this event and next year in London may be a better example
