I now know what I'm using my first Prestige Token for

After the triumphant return of the classic prestige system in its predecessor, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 it keeps the traditional Prestige system in place and with that system comes Prestige tokens. These unlocks will work the same as always, with players getting one token per Prestige which can be used to permanently unlock any item. This is a huge advantage because Prestiging locks everything up until players re-raise, so every chip spent is an important choice. Black Ops 7's Vault Edition muddies the waters a bit though, as players like me who purchased this version of the game will be able to use the Prestige Token on day one. And for me, the goal of this early Permanent Unlock is unsolvable because it's a blast from the past.

The MPC-25 from Black Ops 7, the second coming of the MSMC, is my top priority

Although I would be tempted by the M8A1 as it was my favorite weapon Black Ops 2 and my choice of weapon in Black Ops 7 beta, unlocking at level 10 means I'll be able to access it in the blink of an eye. Instead, I turn my attention to the next return BO2 icon: MSMC. Now called the MPC-25, I expect this weapon to be as powerful as it was in the Black Ops 2. In this game, the weapon shined not only with its elegant aesthetics, but also with its statistics. It had laser accuracy, solid range on the SMG, and a quick time to kill, which basically made it a flawless piece of weaponry.

Adding to the idea that the direct successor to MSMC will be strong is its unlock level. Players usually have to wait until level 55 to get this weapon, meaning the only people who will be able to run around with this weapon on launch day are those who unlock it via their Vault Edition Permanent Unlock Token and those who have a stash of Double XP Tokens. While the ultimate unlock isn't always the best thing players can get, it's rarely the worst, and MSMC's legacy makes me believe that Treyarch won't let its successor down. Power of other older weapons v BO6from the Olympia to the LC10, it just adds to the confidence. Some of the other top level unlocks for this particular game also hover around the max level, such as the Juggernaut equivalent known as Rhino (level 54), the controversial Active Camo field upgrade (level 51), and the ever-popular Ninja perk (level 53).

Added to all this is the fact that the MPC-25 was not tested in Black Ops 7 beta. That said, it could be an incredibly powerful weapon that slipped under the radar, while the Predator 45, which dominated the lobby during the testing period, is likely to be noticeably weaker upon release. Additionally, MPC as a level 55 unlock that players get so late (and potentially skip as they continue down the road to Master Prestige) could help him avoid the first round or two of weapon nerfs. Basically, if players like me bet that the MPC-25 is good and we get lucky, then we could dominate Black Ops 7several weeks of persistent lobbying.

When Black Ops 7 release, it will still be worth checking out powerful beta weapons like the MXR-17, the Predator 45, and my beloved M8A1. There's a chance, however small it may be, that they weren't hit too hard after the beta and are still meta.

Potential loadout for the MPC-25 Black Ops 7

While Black Ops 7The MSMC successor is described as having superior damage, maneuverability and mobility, will apparently have higher recoil and limited range compared to the classic BO2 weapon. As such I would we recommend the following MPC-25 loads players, provided the following attachments are available for this SMG:

  • Firepower Muzzle Suppressor (no minimap pings, extra projectile speed and extra damage range at the cost of target speed)
  • Hybrid Barrel (increases damage range and projectile speed)
  • Rest for controlling the recoil of the handguard (significant drop to horizontal recoil)
  • Grip Accuracy Rear grip (Vertical Recoil Control and First Shot Recoil Control)
  • Extended Mag 1 (additional ammo capacity)

It's worth noting that this setup has been largely conjecture ever since BO7 it hasn't been launched yet, and I'm basing my build on the attachments available for other SMGs, which means the MPC-25 may lack some of these options. Also worth considering as everyone Black Ops 7 the weapon has an exclusive attachment linked to the game's weapon prestige system. In the case of this particular submachine gun, it's an 8.6″ MFS Stratus-X Barrel, which in my opinion has too many compromises to justify it. The attachment is said to fully solve the recoil problem at the cost of less damage and range, with the caveat that headshots will do more damage. If you're extremely accurate, but it's reliable, I think it's worth the setup above. I'll trade the Extended Mag for a Fire Mod of some sort, but i think my planned load will successfully restore MSMC vibes to me and other old school Call of Duty fans crave.
