I was about to return to Fortnite for the South Park Collab, then I quit the game for good

Fortnite it's always installed on my Xbox Series X because every few days my kids ask to play with me. Not to brag or anything, but I usually get them to a few wins, which is harder than it sounds when all three are chirping in my ear, running around the map wherever they want, and when it comes to a shootout, I only trust one of them. That's the main reason I stick around Fortnite installed, but I put my fair share of time into battle royale a few years ago. I mostly moved on to other games, at least until then South Park the collaboration event has been officially revealed.

i love South Parkalthough I don't watch much TV. I'm actually at least a few seasons behind, but I've seen a lot. I especially love South Park games though. The stick of truth was an instant classic and yet Broken but whole it's a little behind, I still think it's a great time. I wanted a new one South Park RPG for years, but I mean I've tried The Stick of Truth Fortnite he should have gotten close enough to me. I was ready to go back and do the Born in Chaos Pass and buy a skin or two for myself. Then I logged in, almost immediately closed the game and decided not to play it.

Fortnite x South Park has arrived to start 2026 with a bang. It comes with the Born in Chaos Mini Pass, which brings free cosmetic rewards to unlock.

Towelie is tall if he thinks he's worth $13

I am guilty of spoiling my kids because I have spent probably too much money on V-Bux and Robux over the years. (Their online activity is closely monitored.) They don't ask that often, so I usually don't pay attention to how much I'm spending because, well, because I'm not that good with money, okay? They're my kids too, so like, they don't really know the struggles of finances yet. But when I opened Fortnite look at South Park collab, I looked at the mini-pass and was like “eh”. Still, I knew I'd have to buy a skin or two, and I was ready to open my wallet.

Then I went to the store, looked around, closed the wallet, closed the game and did not spend the money it asks for. Apparently I have 50 V-Bucks in my account, but I needed more to get Towelie as a helper. Randy Marsh is my favorite character, which feels more like a confession than a statement, but Towelie is a close second. I was fine with getting Towelie as a sidekick and then buying one of the skins, probably Cartman, just because they're new South Park characters existing in Fortnite. Randy Marsh must come Fortnite after all, right?

Then I tried to buy V-Bucks and it was $13 for a Towelie. I thought the big skin pack was expensive, but I knew it probably would be too. But 13 bucks for Towelie to follow me? No, thank you. I haven't even looked at the skins and have no idea if it's a typical price, a special price due to collaboration or something, but I just couldn't figure it out. Listen, I have no hatred in my heart for people who pour money into skins. What people do with their money is their business and we won't talk about the amount of money I poured in Apex Legends over the years. I just…I love you, Towelie, but I can't do this. I don't have much to say about it other than the $13 price tag for a sidekick that slapped me in the face when I don't really care FortniteFor starters, they're sidekicks and I just won't pay for it.

Overall new South Park content for Fortnite looks pretty cool. I'm sure Towelie will hang out with a lot of other players and if my kids ask to play soon I'm sure I'll see a lot of South Park skins running around while I'm rocking one of my early season skins. I just won't pay $13, but it's not all “eh” in my mind. Instead, with the emphasis on Stick of Truth, I'm hoping it's some kind of brand new trailer South Park RPG. I'd pay anything for that.
