Dragon Age: Inquisition was released ten years ago in 2014. It featured many firsts for BioWare, including its first entry developed on EA's Frostbite Engine. This led to Dragon Age a game that delivered incredible highs with some nasty spots like the now infamous Hinterlands problem. However, one area where it excelled was how it made Thedas a more unique fantasy setting with a strong and consistent narrative that could be traced across its timeline.
Dragon Age he reveals his lore in ways that go beyond simple presentation, such as in letters, books, and notes that show the various and varied perspectives of the people living in Thedas. Expanding the world of Dragon Age with Inquisition
Dragon Age: Inquisition was a play that brought to the fore the deconstruction of several themes, including the “chosen one” narrative. The way its main story addresses religion and legends, from their often humble origins and how they are nurtured into grandeur, was a massive departure from Dragon Age 2A smaller, overarching story that doesn't come back to as much Dragon Age Origins' tone as some players wanted. This helped create a pattern Dragon Age's model of creating new experiences in each game in the series on multiple levels, including gameplay and narrative themes.
One of the greatest legacies Dragon Age: Inquisition it left the mark it made Dragon Ageis a tradition. Where Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age 2 founded and created the foundations of the world of Thedas, Dragon Age: InquisitionThe revelation deconstructed parts of it. Rather than contradicting established tradition, however, deconstruction Dragon Agethe tradition was in keeping with the themes Dragon Age: Inquisitionnarratives of the origins of religious figures. With a literal religious figure as a party member, posing as himself in his purest form before the weight of legend was strapped to him, Dragon Age: Inquisitionthemes are hard to forget.
Make the world of Dragon Age more complex
Addition Dragon Age: InquisitionThe last DLC, Trespasser, further illustrated this theme, especially as it grappled with the legacy of the Inquisition and if the Inquisition should be disbanded or continued as a powerful force in Thedas. All of this culminated in a final conversation with Solas, where the Inquisitor had the opportunity to question him about his role in his rebellion, a figure remembered as both by the people he saved and those who remained.
Dragon Age: Inquisition still comes under fire today for its massive open worlds full of side quests that are little more than busywork. Another point of contention was his Power system, which sometimes dictated the pace of his story to crawl, leaving those who wanted to avoid fetch quests unable to progress through the main questline. These criticisms were heard loud and clear by BioWare, and although they were present Mass Effect: Andromeda, Dragon Age: The Veilguard launched without these concerns. Despite these disadvantages, Dragon Age: Inquisition it still holds up today as a strong RPG with a narrative identity that held Dragon Age series throughout the decade.
