Insomniac has confirmed that it has no plans to support Marvel's Spider-Man 2 with additional story DLC. This update has discouraged several fans who have been patiently waiting for the story to expand, and now it seems that Insomniac may be calling it quits Spider-Man 2The loose narrative ends with either a sequel or a rumored Venom spin-off.
After Spider-Man 2 launched for the PS5 in October 2023, players were almost immediately interested in the story DLC. Spider-Man (2018) received his The city that never sleeps expansion just a month after release, yet it was not talked about Spider-Man 2Story DLC until the catastrophic Insomniac data leak in December 2023. The leak revealed at least three planned story expansions for Spider-Man 2 this would explore some unfinished plot threads of the base game. Unfortunately, Insomniac's plans say otherwise.

Perhaps those plans were outdated, or the data leak may have forced Insomniac to change its post-launch strategy Spider-Man 2. However, the latter scenario seems unlikely Spider-Man 2 fans were very excited about the story DLCs and consistently asked Insomniac about them until the studio announced that it had no plans to release them. However, 2024 will soon be out and Insomniac has yet to provide any details about Venom: Deadly Protectorwhich is a potential reason for spin-off concerns. One could argue that this is in line with Sony's strategy of revealing games close to launch, but if Poison game isn't announced until summer 2025 at the latest, then there can only be more bad news.
