Invincible VS reveals an all-new, original fighter that doesn't come from the Amazon Show

Based on the hit comic book series and Amazon's animated adaptation, Invincible VS is a 3v3 tag fighting game that just revealed a new character on The Game Awards 2025. This new fighter announcement was one of many great reveals at The Game Awards 2025, a show that included two Star Wars notice, two Tomb Raider reveals, and teases for the next Larian Studios game.

First announced during Xbox's June unveiling earlier this year, Invincible VS is the first project from developer Quarter Up, a team founded by several developers who worked on 2013 Killer instinct. Quarter Up is Skybound Games' first in-house studio and has been given full access Invincible license and even managed to get actors like Steven Yeun and JK Simmons to reprise their roles from the Amazon show.

Invincible VS introduces the original character Ella Mental

Announced approximately two-thirds of the way through The Game Awards 2025, Invincible VS adds a new heroine, Ella Mental, to her roster. After a short introduction from the co-creator Invincible, Robert Kirkman, Ella Mental got a full minute to shine in the gameplay trailer. As her hero name suggests, Ella Mental's moveset utilizes all of Earth's natural elements, including fire strikes, ice strikes, and an ultimate attack that traps opponents in a water bubble and crushes them with giant rocks.

Unlike the rest Invincible VS' ever-growing list, Ella Mental didn't come from Invincible Amazon show or Kirkman's original comics. Instead, Ella Mental is an entirely original character co-created by Robert Kirkman, Ryan Ottley, and Cory Walker exclusively for Invincible VS. The Ella Mental character reveal trailer also confirmed that the new hero will be voiced by Grammy-nominated Philadelphia rapper Tierra Whack.

Ella Mental marks the 12th character to join Invincible VS“, but according to developer Quarter Up, there are even more on the way. In a recent post on the oficial Invincible VS Ella Mental's game awards announcement summary website, Quarter Up, has confirmed that the full roster for the game's launch day will include 18 fighters, leaving six more fighters to be revealed earlier. Invincible VSLaunching on April 30, 2026.

Developer Quarter Up has also confirmed that four more fighters will be headed their way Invincible VS after startup. The identity of the four post-launch fighters available via the Year 1 Character Pass has yet to be confirmed, but Quarter Up has confirmed that they will be released between Q3 2026 and Q1 2027.

Invincible VS Announces Physical and Deluxe Editions, Pre-Order Bonus

In addition to the Ella Mental release date reveal and announcement, Invincible VS also announced during The Game Awards 2025 that the game is now officially available for pre-order on Steam, Xbox and PlayStation. Pre-order Invincible VS will provide players with an alternate “Zero-Suit Mark” outfit for Invincible, a costume inspired by the hero's first suit from Invincible #1 and the second episode of the Amazon adaptation.
