IN JJK Modulo chapter 13, a death match was arranged between an alien race and humans. The winner would officially gain control of Tokyo, where the cursed spirits are held. If the aliens manage to win this deadly battle, they will establish their own country in Tokyo and take care of the cursed spirits themselves. If the wizards win, then of course they will continue their annual exorcisms in Tokyo.
The last time I saw him was at Hana's funeral. He said he wouldn't go to any more funerals. He might look like a muscle man, but he's too sensitive, you know. He just can't bear to be put off by anyone else. It was getting a little too rough for me too. After all, he can't age, you know? — Nobara Kugisaki on Yuji Itadori, JJK Modulo Chapter 13
The wizards wanted Yuji to face this battle, but he was nowhere to be found. When consulted about his whereabouts, Nobara made it clear that Yuji was sick of seeing all the people around him die one by one. This means that Yuji has already lost several loved ones, and that one of those losses was so profound that he actually cut himself off from society itself. Clearly, the closest bond Yuji had in the story was none other than Megumiand if he died, that explains why Yuji is now in isolation.

It was also confirmed that Hana had recently passed away. As fans know, Hana and Megumi have always been togetherand Gege even built them as the main ship at the end of the story. Nobara calling Hana by her first name means she was actually very close to her by the end. It could also have been done to hide the fact that Hana had adopted the surname Fushiguro. After Hana's death, Yuji officially cut off contact with all his friends as they were dying one by one and he was in pain.

In JJK Modulo Chapter 13, the fact that Megumi was not consulted when the search for Yuji was going on confirms that she is not actually around. Nobara keeps pushing on Yuji just can't age. Megumi and Hana both seem to have died as well as Yuta and Maki.

No matter how fans look at it, the evidence is right in their faces. It is Megumi's death that depressed Yujiconsidering they were best friends and soul mates.
In the end though Yuji will be able to transfer to the other world. He will most likely die at the hands of Dabury, which will allow him to fulfill his grandfather's wish and finally rest in peace.
