The year 2025 is now officially over, and with that, the overall sales of manga series throughout the year have been more pronounced. 2024, the year before, was the year Jujutsu Kaisen. With JJK's rise to the top, his sales skyrocketed. But now that the manga is done, the old series has once again taken its place as Japan's best-selling manga, and it's none other than One piece.

The fans know One piece as the best-selling manga series of all time, but has definitely faced some sales declines in recent years. However, the manga is now recovering and on the rise again thanks to the popular Elbaf arc. With other major series ending as well, One Piece has little competition. Until a new series breaks out, One Piece will be at the top of the sales charts for the next few years, reviving the streak it lost in 2019 to Demon Slayer.

2025 has been a very successful year for One Piece as a whole, and that is abundantly clear to fans when they see the sales estimates that have now been revealed.
Surprisingly or not, One Piece peaked in 2025, becoming the best-selling Japanese manga of the year with approximately 4.2 million copies sold.. That's massive for the series, especially looking back over the last few years. One Piece reached this number with the Elbaf arc, which spans over 3 volumes in total. It was also thanks to some backlog from previous arcs, especially Egghead.
Yet while One Piece was number 1, Jujutsu Kaisen was a close second. JJK was the best selling manga series in 2024 and even in 2025 it did amazingly well. Although no new volume was released in 2025, Jujutsu Kaisen has accumulated a total of 3.9 million sales. This is shocking and shows the extent of the series' popularity.

These haki users in One Piece are the greatest. Some would even describe their haki as god level.
Being able to compete with an ongoing manga despite it being over is very impressive and will likely continue into 2026, albeit less prominently. Meanwhile, its sequel, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, will also continue.
Another series that performed very well in 2025 includes Dandadanmanga that exploded with its new anime adaptation. Blue Lock is also a high-selling seriesdespite its terrible anime. Blue Lock was even the best-selling manga of 2023. Kingdom, Blue Box, and Sakamoto Days made up the rest of the top 7, all earning over 2 million sales this year.
One Piece lost its streak in 2019 when the Demon Slayer exploded
Fans were surprised to see this One Piece has once again taken its place as the best-selling manga series in Japan this year. After all, the series hasn't won that title since 2019. before 2019, One Piece not being Japan's best-selling manga was shockingand a rare event. But in 2019, One Piece was surpassed by Demon Slayerand the rest is history.
In the following years, the One Piece manga will once again be surpassed by Demon Slayer and other series such as Blue Lock and Jujutsu Kaisen. Fans could clearly see the loss in sales of One Piece as well as a slight drop in popularity.
One Piece is of course a very long series and with that comes fatigue. It goes without saying that One Piece is still incredibly popular, and the new 2025 boards prove it. Even though One Piece wasn't the #1 best selling manga, it was always among the best.

2025 was not the strongest year for manga. After all, huge hits, such as Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia ended in 2024. And moving forward other manga series such as Sakamoto Days will end.
This is definitely not the best time for Weekly Shonen Jump and other magazines. for now One Piece and other big reliable series like Kingdom will dominateat least for a while. Until a new series breaks out, One Piece will remain at the top as the best-selling manga in Japanand that's great for all fans of the story, but it also means a big new series is coming soon.
