Jujutsu Kaisen characters that had stunning endings in the Manga

Key things

  • Several characters in Jujutsu Kaisen, such as Inumaki and Panda, received stunning endings or decisions.
  • Strong characters like Uraume and Kinji Hakari have had flat or disappointing results in recent chapters.
  • The devastating death of Satoru Gojo and the sudden return of Nobara Kugisaki were among the disappointments at the end of the manga.

After 6 years in serialization, Gege Akutami's Jujutsu Kaisen the manga is finally over. This was quite obviously one of the biggest and most influential shonen action series of recent years, and it will be remembered fondly for the most part. But the truth is that its ending was met with a mixed reception by fans and long-time readers, for several controversial reasons.

One of them is the surprising number of characters who have received somewhat crushing denouements to their stories. Whether it's because their ending was disappointing or because they completely disappeared from the manga during its final arcs, Jujutsu Kaisen characters are some of the most egregious examples of this unfortunate phenomenon.

Spoiler alert
for the whole manga.

10 Toge Inumaki

He used to be one of the main characters but in the end he did almost nothing

Toge Inumaki loses his hand after the Shibuya incident.

  • First appearance: Chapter 0-1 (Manga) Episode 5 (Anime)

Toge Inumaki he was one of Yuto's classmates and was supposed to be one of the main characters of the series. Although this later changed when the manga shifted to Itadori and his friends, Inumaki still remained an important character in the story, mainly due to his unique cursed technique, Cursed Speech.

But as the manga continued, Inumaki became less and less relevant, to the point where he almost disappeared from the story. After losing one of his arms during Sukun's rampage in Shibuya, he didn't do much other than tape himself saying “Don't move” so Yuta could use it against the Curse King in the final battle. . After defeating Sukuna, Inumaki returned to his normal life.

9 Panda

He lost his father and his siblings. What now?

Kashimo defeats Panda.

  • First appearance: Chapter 0-1 (Manga) Episode 5 (Anime)

That cannot be denied Panda is one of the most fascinating characters Jujutsu Kaisen. He is a mutated cursed corpse created by Headmaster Yaga who holds three different cores within his body, each with their own powers. Coupled with his adorable design and charming personality, it's clear why he was one of the original main characters of the series.

Unlike Inumaki, Panda kept an active role after the Shibuya incident, but there was definitely a lot left behind. First, his father was executed by superior Jujutsu, but aside from briefly mourning his death, Panda never really discussed the loss. On top of that, his two cores were destroyed by Kashim and he never even got to show off the power of his sister's Triceratops mode, which was disappointing for readers who had been waiting a long time for this transformation. After this crushing defeat, Panda was seen hanging around the other characters in a smaller form, but he didn't do much.

8 Uraume

Wait, why did they even follow Sukuna in the first place?

Uraume vs Hikari in the manga.

  • First appearance: Chapter 53 (Manga) Episode 21 (Anime)

Sukun's most loyal subordinate, Uraumehe was also one of the most powerful wizards incarnate in the series, largely due to their cursed Ice Formation technique, which allows them to use freezing cryokinetic abilities. Despite filling such an important role as Sukun's second-in-command, Uraume was completely underutilized during the final chapters.

They were set up for a climactic final showdown against Kinji Hakari while the other heroes battled their master. Unfortunately, as exciting as that sounded, most of this battle took place off-screen. Even though Uraume made an appearance in the last chapter when he went to the afterlife by Sukuna's side, it was far from satisfying as their story and motivations were never properly established.

7 Kinji Hakari

His epic final battle wasn't even shown

Hakari and Kirara return to school in the final chapter.

  • First appearance: Chapter 153 (Manga)

At the beginning of the manga, Kinji Hakari she was established as one of the most talented and powerful wizards. When the suspended student later made his debut, he certainly didn't disappoint, as he took part in some of the most amazing and bizarre fights in the series thanks to the expansion of the Pachinko-themed domain.

Hakari also had a key role during the final battle, separating Sukuna from his subordinate Uraum. This invisible encounter was extremely disappointing as most readers expected to see him demonstrate his unique abilities again. Nor was he able to defeat them because the Uraume killed themselves after Sukuna's death. In the final chapter, it is suddenly revealed that Hakari and Kirara will continue their studies at Jujutsu Tech, which seemed like a rushed development.

6 Hajime Kashimo

He went from huge threat to fodder for Sukuna

Kashimo unleashed his Mythical Beast Amber technique.

  • First appearance: Chapter 158 (Manga)

Hajime Kashimo was an incarnate sorcerer from 400 years ago who wielded electric cursed energy. He quickly showed how incredibly strong he was by defeating countless Culling Game players, including Panda. After all, Kashima had one goal in mind: to fight Ryomen Sukuna himself.

Hakari successfully convinced Kashima to fight on their side, leading to his immediate deployment against Sukuna during the Shinjuku Showdown Arc. He even used his most dangerous technique, named Mythical Beast Amber, but none of it was enough to defeat the Curse King, who quickly disposed of him without issue. Despite their interesting final exchange about power, the fact that Kashimo ended up being used as fodder to showcase Sukuna's power was quite anticlimactic.

5 Miguel Oduol

Kenya's most powerful wizard has quietly returned to his home country

Miguel activates his prayer song technique.

  • First appearance: Chapter 0-3 (Manga) Jujutsu Kaisen 0 (anime)

Existence Miguel Oduol presented a very interesting concept Jujutsu Kaisen: the prospect that there are wizards in other countries who are almost as powerful as Satoru Gojo and who have also affected the societies in their homes. However, this brilliant concept was never fully explored by the time the manga ended, not to mention not much was shown about Yuto's training in Africa.

While Miguel was given a chance to show off his impressive abilities during the final fight against Sukuna, he was transported away when things got too complicated to later see him return to Kenya as usual. Is that it? Miguel is an extremely powerful wizard, so it would be fascinating to see what curses and wizards he has to deal with in his country and how his experiences in Japan have affected him.

4 Yuki Tsukumo

The most powerful witch was killed without incident

Yuki fights Kenjaku with his technique.

  • First appearance: Chapter 50 (Manga) Episode 20 (Anime)

As the only special class witch and Aoi Todo's mentor, fans have been waiting Yuki Tsukumo to show off her full abilities for a good number of years. She finally got her chance in an intense battle against Kenjaku, and with her powerful techniques and bombastic personality, she had the potential to become one of the most popular characters in the series.

Unfortunately, however, Yuki could not survive an encounter with one of the main antagonists and was suddenly killed when Kenjaku used an anti-gravity technique out of the blue. This was disappointing because after so many years of building up, Yuki was killed off in the blink of an eye which lessened the impact of her entire character.

3 Nobara Kugisaki

She finally reappeared when the manga was only a few chapters old

Nobara shows off her new eyepatch.

  • First appearance: Chapter 3 (Manga) Episode 2 (Anime)

Gege Akutami nailed it Nobara Kugisaki the figure was divisive. While she was introduced as the main female character in the series and quickly established herself as a likable friend and a powerful wizard, she left the story after her fatal encounter with Mahito during the Shibuya incident.

Over the years, fans have questioned whether or not Nobara is really dead. She finally reappeared in the story in chapter 267 where she helped Itadori finish off Sukuna with her Resonance technique. As epic as this moment was, the manga ended just 4 chapters later and Nobara was absent for most of its duration. She was eventually reintroduced and went on with her normal life, with no clear resolution to her story, if it can even be considered that she had one in the first place.

2 Kenjak

One of the main antagonists didn't even get a proper send off

Kenjaku successfully defeats Yuki.

  • First appearance: Chapter 10 (Manga) Episode 5 (Anime)

An evil wizard Kenjak he had a personal conflict with the two main characters of the series: Satoru Gojo because he possessed his best friend's body and sealed him in the prison realm, and Yuji Itadori because he possessed the woman who became his mother in the process. to create the perfect vessel for Sukuna.

Despite these intense personal altercations, neither Gojo nor Itadori ever got the chance to fight or even interact with Kenjaku before he was suddenly killed by Yuta. There's no denying that his comedic final battle with Fumihiko Takaba was one of the greatest moments in the entire manga, but it's quite unfortunate that not much was shown about Kenjaku after his crucial defeat. Takaba is later seen preparing a new comedy routine with a man who closely resembles Geta. Is it supposed to be some form of Kenjak?

1 Satoru Gojo

He was successfully unsealed, only to die a few chapters later

Satoru Gojo fires Hollow Purple at 100% on Sukun.

  • First appearance: Chapter 0-1 (Manga) Episode 1 (Anime)

to this day Satoru Gojo death is one of the most divisive and controversial moments of all Jujutsu Kaisen. It's an interesting idea on paper because he's such an undeniably powerful character that his death left a huge void in the Jujutsu Society and Sukuna would have taken over if it weren't for Goya's friends and allies.

The problem is that Gojo was sealed inside the Kenjaku Prison Realm, so he was completely absent from the story for almost 140 chapters. Unlike Nobara, Gojo was killed just a few chapters after his reintroduction. The fight itself was exciting – one of the best of the series – but Sukun's victory was cheap and undeserved.

Gojo had a huge impact on Itadori, who would carry on his legacy, but that wasn't enough for such a beloved icon. Gojo was a really fun and complex character, so it's a real shame that he was written off the manga in such a crushing way.
