Jujutsu Kaisen giving fans one big shock after another. Fans have always known that Gege Akutami writes slightly darker stories, and that doesn't seem to have changed at all in the continuation of the series. Right at the beginning JJK Moduloit was revealed to fans that Gege officially killed two of the most important characters of the original series, Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin. These two were the core of the victory against the Curse King, Sukunain Shinjuku Showdown. Their deaths were certainly a big blow to all fans of the story.

JJK just killed two main characters and fans are shocked.
Now, the story has seemingly confirmed that another great couple that fans fell in love with towards the end of JJK is dead. This is it the couple Megumi Fushiguro and Hana Kurusu. JJK Modulo chapter 13, highlighted their deaths quite clearly and also had a profound effect on the original series' protagonist, Yuji Itadori.

Gege Akutami didn't really give the fans any big pairs towards the end of JJK. However, he most likely paired them together and left the rest to fans' imaginations. For example, Yuta and Maki were clearly together at the end of the series, and it wasn't until the sequel that fans learned they were married and had children and grandchildren.

Similarly, Gege also co-founded Megumi and Hana. However, nothing has been mentioned about them since then. In the special JJK disposable, Gege also founded Yuji and Ozawa togetherbut again fans don't know much about what happened to Ozawa.
Right now in the story, it is very clear that 68 years after the events of Shinjuku Showdown, most of the main characters are already dead. Both Yuta and Maki have already died. Nobara is still alive, but the others fall one by one. It is highly likely that Ozawa is also dead at this point.
Yuji attended Han Kurusu's funeral
specifically Gege seems to imply that both Megumi and Hana are dead. In JJK Modulo Chapter 13, Nobara mentioned that the last time she saw Yuji was during Hana's funeral. Nobara calling Hana by her first name means that she became very close to her later on.
It also means that her relationship with Megumi probably resulted in their marriage and her taking his last name. This is Gege's way of hiding the fact that she ended up marrying Megumi.

JJK wasn't known for his incredible writing, but Gege exceeded expectations with Modulo.
We are not heroes fighting for justice. We are Jujutsu wizards. No one can ever truly judge us, so we must constantly prove the worth of our existence. And we don't have the luxury of thinking about ourselves. We just have to save people. I believe that was the original principle of your action. The biggest indicator here is fact Yuji basically cut himself off from all his friends. Yuji gradually loses them all and it becomes too much for him to bear. Towards the end of JJK, Yuji told Megumi that he would try to cope with the loneliness without him. If Megumi died along with Yuta and Maki, it makes sense why Yuji cut himself off completely.
Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin died not too long ago
Besides Megumi and Hana, Gege also killed many other characters. The biggest shock of all was the death of Maki Zenin. Fans are well aware that he has a powerful Heaven's Restraint and a body that is clearly superhuman. If anything, Maki should be one of the last to die.
Yet for some reason she ended up dying first. Shock from her death was so much for Yuta that he couldn't deal with it and the loneliness eventually took him too.

JJK Modulo just brought back the legendary wizard and fans are excited for what's to come.
The last time I saw him was at Hana's funeral. He said he wouldn't go to any more funerals. He might look like a muscle man, but he's too sensitive, you know. He just can't bear to be put off by anyone else. — Nobara Kugisaki on Yuji Itadori, JJK Modulo Chapter 13
Now, Nobara is the only character from the old generation known to fans to have survived. Yuji, meanwhile, will continue to live because he no longer ages, as confirmed by Nobara. Due to the loss of all his friends, he is severely depressed and wants to fulfill his grandfather's last wish to die surrounded by those he loves.
Yuji could die in JJK Modulo
Whether he will be able to fulfill this wish or not remains to be seen. But given the current events of JJK Modulo, it is highly likely Yuji ends up killing the new strongest in the story, Dabura. His power is absolutely immense and he is the only one who can free Yuji from his curse.
Once that happens, Yuji will most likely meet Mahito in the afterlife and rest in peace. It will definitely be a sad moment in the story, but it will also wrap up Yuji's story and give it a fitting ending.
A sequel to Jujutsu Kaisen, called Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, runs in Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine. The series takes place 68 years in the future, after the events of the Shinjuku Showdown. The main characters of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo are Yuka and Tsurugi Okkotsu, the grandsons of Yuta and Maki. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 14 will be released on December 7, 2025.
