Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo has an officially teased end date of 5 months

This article contains spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo.

Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the biggest hit manga of all time for Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. When this series by Gege Akutami ended in 2024, the magazine was a big success. Fortunately, Gege Akutami was willing to return with a brand new sequel called Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo.

Modulo is a sequel with different characters set years in the future. Needless to say, fans loved this story despite it largely featuring an entirely new cast of characters. Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo has enjoyed a stunning run so far, but its end is now fast approaching. Weekly Shonen Jump has already hinted at the conclusion of the storyand within the next few weeks it may end.

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo started on September 8, 2025

Gege indicated A 3 Volume Long Run

Jujutsu Kaisen module began its run in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump on September 8, 2025 – about a year after the end of the original Jujutsu Kaisen manga. The manga Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo proved to be a great success. Its first volume, released in January 2026, was a huge hit and became one of the best-selling series of the month. Of course, JJK Modulo has a great heritage behind it. It is a sequel set 68 years after the end of the original Jujutsu Kaisen manga, which was a sensation around the world. As such, it was always going to be a big hit.

Right after it started, Gege Akutami dropped an important message indicating the length of this manga and setting expectations for fans. Gege Akutami said in his message that he believes the manga mod will run for about three volumes, or six months of weekly releases.

“The opportunity to think about a lot of different ideas, like expanding part of the main story, fine-tuning some specific background setting, changing the time period, or even creating a parallel story; that's how Modulo, which was actually the craziest idea in the concept stage, came to fruition after going through the serialization meetings.”

It is a very short, intensely compact serialization. It will be about six months of work (if not cancelled).

It costs about three volumes.

I hope everyone can enjoy Modulo as a new kind of introduction to Jujutsu!” — Gege Akutami

Naturally, fans were disappointed to hear this. When the sequel was first announced, some believed it might be a full-fledged regular-length manga like its predecessor Jujutsu Kaisen. Many fans still hoped it would continue for longer despite Gege's message. However, as the pace of the series and current events make clear, Gege's estimate seems realistic. The end of the JJK Modulo has now been heavily hinted at by the latest announcement in Jump and it's definitely a disappointing update.

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo might end in the next 3 chapters

Three weekly Shonen Jump cover pages have been announced back to back

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo ending with 3 chapters

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is definitely on top at the moment. A few chapters ago, Dabury's main battle with Yuka Okkotsu started, and Tsurugi Okkotsu also fought Maru. Tsurugi and Maru's battle is already over and Dabura is about to destroy Mahoraga. Of course, there's also a shocking new plot twist introduced by Gege that involves Yuji and Mara changing the Jujutsu Kaisen world forever by getting rid of all the cursed energy. This brings the story to its climax. Still, it was expected that we would see at least another 10 chapters. However, a recent reveal from Weekly Shonen Jump seems to point to an earlier conclusion for this sequel.

  • Weekly Shonen Jump revealed that for issues 13, 14, and 15, Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo will have a front page each time. For context, a streak with three color pages in a row is pretty much unheard of in Weekly Shounen Jump history. With such a historic moment unfolding for Jujutsu Kaisen modulehe is believed to be an emissary for the Jujutsu Kaisen of Gege Akutami. as things stand the series could end Weekly Shounen Jump Issue 15. If Gege plans to end the manga in 3 chapters, it would make sense to see Weekly Shonen Jump offering him so much attention. Of course, this is just speculation, which the magazine has not yet confirmed.

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo may have more and more for fans

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo fears it will end in the next three weeks due to Jump's front pages. But as Jump reported, it may also be due to how successful Gege Akutami and his story have been in the magazine. If that's the case, then Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo would probably continue for a few more chapters before reaching the end.

Current story about JJK Modulo revolves around Yuji and Maru's plan to eradicate the cursed energy. Getting rid of Cursed Energy is a plot point revealed all the way back in Yuki's original JJK. This plot point was completely forgotten as the main story progressed, but Gege is now bringing it back in Modulo. While Yuji and Maru could be successful, it could also very well all backfire. If that were to happen, something like the Merger could unfold and the results would be disastrous.

That said, if Gege Akutami wants to continue the story, he could very easily do so. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo the current storyline is very versatile and could either end in 3 chapters or it could be expanded and given more time to be even more successful.

Even if Jujutsu Kaisen module ends, there is also a possibility that the series will get another sequel. As fans know, there is a large time gap of 68 years between the original Jujutsu Kaisen and Modulo. This time gap could easily be explored by Gege Akutami in a new manga and fans would absolutely love it. Seeing the original cast in their prime is something many fans have been itching to see. Either way, Gege Akutami is too profitable for the magazine to let go so easily. Jump certainly hadn't seen the last of him. Sooner or later, Gege Akutami will return to Jump because he is incredibly talented and Jump also needs him to carry the torch for the next generation of Shonen Manga.
