Bloober Team has done a phenomenal job of rebuilding its image over the past two years, thanks in part to how masterfully the Silent Hill 2 Remake was received. So when the team started making announcements about the new game on Valentine's Day, plenty of players were understandably excited at the prospect of another title.
Well, we're here to inform you that the title has been revealed, and contrary to a lot of theories, it's actually another Layers of Fear game, namely Layers of Fear 3.
As revealed during the 10th anniversary stream, Layers of Fear 3 is officially coming. An official website has also been set up with some great text, including the jumbled letters that were originally part of the countdown.

When Layers of Fear 3 is released, it will be the fourth Layers of Fear title released by Bloober Team. The original Layers of Fear was released in 2016, followed by a sequel, Layers of Fear 2, in 2019. However, this original title was eventually remade in 2023.
It's confusing, we know.

That original title basically put Bloober on the map, so no matter how disappointing the end result is, it's nice to see it return to the Layers of Fear franchise.
Fans were hoping for something else
In the moments after the countdown, theories emerged about what started the game, and some of them were quite convincing. Remothered, a remake of Eternal Darkness or a sequel to The Darkness, which we haven't seen since 2012, were among the most popular immediate theories.
No theory was more prevalent than the Rule of Rose remake, and given the number of times the words “Rose” and “Rule” were referenced, you can't blame them. Shortly after this theory started to gain traction, Bloober themselves scaled it down and then went a little further by saying that what will be announced is not a remake.
This basically limited all the other theories that existed.
Bloober has been disappointing or not lately, so maybe he deserves the benefit of the doubt.
