Lords of the Fallen 2 showcases its first ever gameplay

During The Game Awards 2025, developers CI Games gave players a new look at the gameplay of the upcoming Soulslike title. Lords of the Fallen 2which is due out in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Lords of the Fallen 2 is a direct sequel to 2023 Lord of the FallenSoulslike, which tasked players with surviving and traversing dual worlds full of challenging obstacles and deadly enemies.

This is not the first time that CI Games has shown off the upcoming Soulslike, as Lords of the Fallen 2 was revealed at Geoff Keighley's next show, Gamescom's Opening Night Live. The event took place back in August, and CI Games introduced the title by releasing a visceral, action-packed cinematic trailer designed to keep players on the edge of their seats. While many fans were excited to learn that a sequel would be released in the relatively near future, a large portion of the community was also eager to see some actual gameplay. Fortunately, it seems the developers listened and gave players exactly what they asked for.

Lords of the Fallen 2 Official Gameplay Revealed

CI Games released a new trailer for Lords of the Fallen 2 at The Game Awards, giving players a glimpse of what gameplay will look like in the highly anticipated Soulslike. Players familiar with the first title may notice that they will once again be tasked with traversing the dual world of the living and the dead, but there will also be plenty of new features to look forward to. CI Games is adding all new designs to the title as well as a dismemberment system that promises to deliver an even more brutal experience than the first game. In the trailer, CI Games gave players a first look at three bosses, the metal-encased Heartroot Warden, Koydreth attacking from his rune-etched mirror, and the colossal dragon Lingao the Souring Storm. While some fans were hoping to see a specific release date at the end of the trailer, CI Games reaffirmed their commitment to release the title in 2026.

While few Soulslikes have managed to match or surpass the best of FromSoftware's growing roster, there are some notable titles that have given games like BloodborneE and Elden Ring a run for their money. 2023 was a big year for Soulslikes as well as both Lords of the Fallen and Lies P they made a splash when they first released. CI Games seems to be looking to double down on its initial success Lord of the Fallen 2 it looks like it will have even more enemies, refined fights and unique bosses ready to intimidate even the most grizzled Soulslike player.

Fans may be happy to know that CI Games has also launched the last major update for 2023 Lords of the Fallenwhich should provide players with fresh content to enjoy while they patiently (or impatiently) wait for the highly anticipated sequel. Lords of the FallenUpdate 2.5 comes with some big changes, including a new Veteran mode that should prove to be an intense challenge for even the most experienced players. In Veteran mode, bosses have evolved to use faster transitions, new attack patterns, and will be even more aggressive than they were in Legacy mode of the game. Players can only access veteran mode by starting a new save, and once you select that save, it will be impossible to go back to legacy mode. Players looking to engage in some co-op play may want to note that they will only be able to join teammates in the same mode as them. With fresh content to enjoy and an all-new experience coming in 2026, it looks like fans will have Lords of the Fallen you have something to look forward to.
