Marathon release date confirmed, collector's edition revealed

Developer Bungie just confirmed it Marathon will be released on March 5, 2026. This official confirmation comes just hours after MarathonThe release date was revealed via a trailer that appeared early on the game's Xbox Club page.

A revitalization of Bungie's 1990s sci-fi FPS series, Marathon was first announced at the PlayStation 2023 show, the first new project Bungie revealed following its acquisition of Sony in 2022. In the summer of 2025 Marathon had its first closed alpha tests and feedback after the sessions was mixed to say the least. Marathon confirms a release date of March 5, 2026

Move forward seven months and Marathon it finally has a new release date. Marathon will launch on March 5, 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, with crossplay and cross-save available at launch for those with a Bungie.net account. In addition to announcing the release date, Bungie released a new Marathon A gameplay trailer that gives fans a much clearer picture of its gameplay loop, its sci-fi world, and the general tone the game is going for.

IN MarathonIn the latest gameplay trailer, fans can spot a few special abilities that will give them an advantage against both the extraction shooter's AI and player-controlled opponents, such as a grappling hook that can seemingly cling to the air and the ability to summon a clone to distract enemies. In the official announcement MarathonThe release date on Bungie.net says that players will be able to complete contracts for six different factions, and that by completing these missions, earning in-game achievements, and finding “narrative items,” players will unlock Codex items that they can view outside of the missions that will shed more light on Marathonworld and story.
