Marathon Testing An exciting new mode that could become permanent in the future

Marathon is about to expand its roster of game modes with an experimental two-player mode that players have been asking for pretty much since day one. The game was originally intended as a dedicated three-player experience. Even the currently available solo mode with Rook Runner Shells was a late-stage development driven by community feedback. Now that Marathon is widely available, though Bungie is seemingly set on implementing player feedback quickly.

Bungie recently confirmed this Marathon it's getting a key item management feature that players have been wanting to see, and this successful pursuit of community goodwill can only do the game well in the long run. Although it has had a troubled history since its announcement, Marathon has since established itself as a solid Bungie offering with plenty of quirkiness and may continue to attract a large audience as time goes on.

Marathon adds Duos as an experimental feature

Marathon game director Joe Ziegler announced that his team will push out the two-player Duos experimental queue on Wednesday, March 18 at 10:00 a.m. PT. According to Ziegler, Bungie is “a little rogue” and players shouldn't expect an overly polished experience anytime soon. For now, the two-player mode will be locked to just one map, Perimeter, and no matchmaking will be introduced yet. The game will only match Duo Teams against other Duo Teams, and players will have roughly two weeks to experience the mode. “Some things are going to be a little crazy,” Ziegler noted. Bungie is experimental Marathon the edits have been mostly positive so far, and the Duos release is likely to receive similar feedback over time.

As Ziegler's post points out, Bungie may decide to end this particular test period early or let it run a bit longer. Furthermore, Ziegler also mentioned that Bungie will have to run more Marathon it experiments as the game goes on, which is good news for those who feel certain aspects of the game could be better. It will be especially interesting to see if this new two-player mode gets something similar MarathonThe complexity of loading a tower in a queue, which greatly affects how players approach situations on their own.

Duos is now confirmed for testing Marathonan eventual full release of the mode will give the game a full breadth of options for players to choose from. It's a very player-centric choice that will only help Marathon stick around while its player base ebbs and flows between major content releases. Additionally, some may never have a full team of three players to play with, so Duos are an excellent alternative. All in all, despite Marathon'''s early bout of review bombing, Bungie is clearly on to something with its remarkable PvPvE FPS.

This is seemingly good news for fans Marathon in this day and age, where the game continues to enjoy decent reviews on Steam and solid concurrent player numbers across the board. However, the same cannot be said for Bungie's previous live-action hit. Fate 2 has been losing players at every turn, with over 91% of its player base leaving the game since the release of the last major expansion pack.
