Marvel Rivals' Dead by Daylight-like Mode is just the tip of the iceberg

WITH Overwatch firing on all cylinders after its big season 1 reboot, Marvel Rivals needed something special to keep up with its competition, and it looks like it has just that lined up. During the Rivals Assemble event, NetEase not only confirmed that Black Cat and White Fox are the heroes of Season 7, but also announced “Road to Doomsday”. With this MCU collaboration, NetEase will add content based on each MCU Avengers movie so far with the original Avengers the film, which will be represented in April via a special Loki-themed game mode. For Dead by Daylight fans, this kind of mode should sound familiar, although it's the other planned events that could really end up stealing the show.

Role for Marvel RivalsThe other two characters remain under wraps, so fans will likely have to wait for that information closer to the Season 7 premiere date of March 20.

Marvel Rivals gets an Avengers-themed plan leading up to Doomsday

Marvel Rivals just released an Avengers-themed road map that starts in April and runs until the release of Doomsday in December.

Marvel Rivals' MCU Avengers event essentially makes Loki the Dead by Daylight Killer

With a 6v1 format that will immediately appeal to fans of similar games Dead by Daylightthe currently untitled Loki game mode will feature one player controlling an extremely powerful variant of the God of Mischief, while the other 6 players will control “various heroes”. Those heroes could be the original six MCU Avengers – Hawkeye, Black Widow, Thor, Hulk, Captain America and Iron Man – but that's just speculation at this point, and the mechanics that allow “survivors” to summon the Hulk seem to rule him out of the team. Regardless, it's Loki's mechanics that seem the most interesting.

According to the announcement for the mode, Loki will have “a whole new set of skills” that will make him strong enough to take on a group of six heroes. He will have more powerful tools of deception and illusion at his disposal to manipulate the heroes into fighting each other, and Loki also has the “powerful abilities of an infinity stone” at his disposal. In the original Avengers In the film, Loki wielded the Mind Stone through his staff, which could allow him to manipulate the enemy team, but he also obtained the Tesseract, which housed the Space Stone. This could potentially allow Loki to teleport anywhere on the map, making him more formidable.

Based on the mode description, it appears that Loki can win by taking out six heroes, while the heroes win by summoning the Hulk to punch Loki around in an “iconic scene” from the film. Again, this is speculation based on a limited description of the mode, but it certainly sounds interesting. And while summoning a gamma-ray-enhanced green rage monster isn't quite the same as fearfully fixing generators, it could still scratch a similar itch for horror fans looking for Dead by Daylight alternative. However, as great as this mode sounds, there are four other tie-ins to consider that could be even more exciting depending on what one is looking for in June 2026.

Next to LTM, Loki Avengers the costume is confirmed to be coming in leather Marvel Rivals. This is his second MCU skin and was his most requested appearance outside of Lady Loki.

What could Marvel Rivals' next Avengers events hold?

Age of Ultron

  • Skin theory: MCU Ultron, AoU Scarlet Witch, Mark 45 Iron Man
  • Regime theory: PvE against Ultron robots

When it comes down to it Age of Ultronit's hard to imagine a better opportunity for a successor to the popular Marvel Zombies PvE mode. NetEase has already promised that more PvE content will be coming to its game after the success of Marvel Zombies, and a survival mode where players fight wave after wave of Ultron robots before taking on the villain himself practically writes itself. Like Marvel Zombies, players could upgrade their characters, which could be a roster of heroes from the movie. Maybe the mind controlled Hulk could be another boss fight if the mode is structured like Marvel Zombies and is more of a linear mission, though the battle wouldn't be quite right without the Hulkbuster. Regardless, a PvE Ultron mode is very likely

Infinity War

  • Skin theory: IW Thor, IW Black Widow, IW Mantis
  • Regime theory: PvP against player-controlled Thanos

As for Infinity War, another asymmetric multiplayer mode would work. However, unlike s Avengers and Age of Ultronwhere the assets already exist in the game, there is no Thanos content Marvel Rivals still. It would be essential in production Infinity War and Game over however, the events feel exceptional, so a playable Thanos in season 8, 9, or 10 isn't out of the realm of possibility. Assuming Thanos shows up before August or August, he could act similar to Loki. The mode could work as a hero shooter OverwatchYeti Hunt LTM, but instead of stopping Winston from gathering meat to cuddle, players could defend the Infinity Stones from Thanos. If they survive long enough, the heroes win as Thanos collects all the stones, allowing him to win by recreating The Snap. Each stone collected could give Thanos a new ability, increasing his chances of success and making things more difficult for the heroes.

Avengers: Endgame

  • Skin theory: Endgame Thor, Endgame Hulk, Endgame Captain America
  • Regime: PvE against Thanos' army

For Avengers: EndgameThe PvE mode set up during the final battle feels too cool to give up. Players could fight their way through waves of Chitauri while NPCs fight in the background, with boss battles against the Black Order popping up as the levels progress, and a fight against an AI-controlled Thanos at the end. Again, this could take on the Marvel Zombies formula with skill trees and difficulty levels, ensuring replayability with new bosses and new base enemies to fight against. Here too, the skins could really shine, with Fat Thor and Smart Hulk standing out from all the existing ones Rivals look (a Bruce Banner look like Mark Ruffalo for the latter look would be nice too).

Anyone celebrating the fast-growing Marvel Rivals bounty hunting scene could use a wake-up call, as it's just as damaging as any troll or caster.

Doomsday remains a question mark

It is much more difficult to describe the great event Marvel Rivals is taking a direction as MCU fans only have short and character-focused Avengers: Judgment Day trailers that can be run. However, many people think that Doom will finally go from being an integral character to the background Marvel RivalsThe tradition of a playable hero is coming on December 18th, when the movie opens, and this theory makes sense. Plus, since Cyclops seems to play a big role and has been teased about it Marvel Rivals There is already a good chance that Scott Summers will be the second hero for any season Judgment Day. Skins and modes are up in the air (though MCU outfits for both of these heroes would be a logical guess), but with everything leading up to this bounty, it's safe to assume that NetEase has big plans in store for December. And if the above theories turn out to be correct, the whole year could be a treat for them Marvel Rivals commonwealth.
