It seems like just a few months ago we were talking about Marvel Rivals being everyone's favorite hero shooter while Overwatch was in the mud. Some new heroes and rebranding have done wonders for Blizzard's game, which now leaves NetEase's shooter in the dust. The table has now turned and Marvel Rivals players have had enough.
One of the many problems the community has with the game is griefers and throwers. Implementation of matchmaking focused on game engagement [EOMM] through banning or suspending players has led to fans creating a website to do it for them. Intlist is a website where you can place bounties on claimers and throwers (thanks, Kotaku).
Most Wanted by Marvel Rivals
The site was created by a player named EchoRivals. “List a reward for each griefer. Players queue up in their games, roll, present evidence and collect money,” the website states. Posts on social media say that the site only exists because of the failure of the developers of Marvel Rivals. “Remove EOMM and actually ban casters? We're happy to shut down.”
It's worth noting that despite how the community feels, NetEase said the game does not use EOMM. “As our game continues to thrive, we want to reiterate that Marvel Rivals does not use EOMM. We are currently working on a video demonstrating our dev insights into the matchmaking and ranking system, which is expected to be released next week,” the tweet said in August of last year. Unfortunately, the results are not displayed, leading to cases like this site.
“Point Based Slop”: Marvel Rivals still hasn't fixed a glaring problem with the competition
Good luck climbing the Marvel Rivals rankings as we still don't have placement matches.
With live service games like Marathon and Arc Raiders hammering cheaters and exploiters, it's understandable that fans of Marvel Rivals are frustrated with NetEase's lax approach. Griers and throwers have plagued the game for quite some time and the developers have failed to deal with them effectively.
