Marvel Rivals gets an Avengers-themed plan leading up to Doomsday

Developer NetEase has just announced this heroic shooter Marvel Rivals will host an extensive crossover with the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Avengers movies. Over the next eight months Marvel Rivals will gradually receive new game content inspired by each of them Avengers movies that eventually result in a big celebration when Avengers: Judgment Day will hit theaters on December 18, 2026.

Marvel Rivals is currently in the middle of its sixth season, with the seventh series starting on March 20 Marvel Rivals season added Deadpool and Elsa Bloodstone to the roster, bringing the total number of playable heroes in the game to 47. According to tracking site SteamDB, Marvel Rivals has a peak 24-hour player count of around 90,000 on Steam. Although this PC-only stat shows that Marvel Rivals still attracts a sizeable player base, the number is a far cry from the game's all-time high of 644,000. Marvel Rivals Announces 2026 Avengers-Themed Schedule

On March 4, NetEase's social media accounts shared an image of a road map titled “Road to Doomsday.” This plan shows five brands, each labeled with an MCU name Avengers film. NetEase's announcement confirms that “new game modes and in-game events inspired by The Infinity Saga” will be coming to Marvel Rivals over the next eight months. This plan ends in December with a release Avengers: Judgment Daywhich will also prompt the addition of “all-new in-game content”. Marvel Rivals.

This long term Marvel Rivals Crossover Infinity Saga kicks off in April with a new limited-time game mode inspired by 2012 The Avengers. In this upcoming asymmetric PVP mode, one player takes on the role of Loki while six other players face off against them. Loki will be equipped with an “all-new skill set” made exclusively for the game mode, which will reportedly see players use illusion, deception and “powerful Infinity Stone abilities” to turn enemy heroes against each other. Those fighting against Loki will be able to summon the Hulk by completing specific objectives. Based on the official image shared by NetEase detailing this upcoming mode, it appears to be Marvel RivalsLoki will also receive a skin based on the villain's appearance The Avengers.

While NetEase has not confirmed any details about the Avengers– themed content coming in June, August, October and December seems likely to follow in the footsteps of this Loki-based game mode. Fans can probably expect to see more Marvel Rivals timed modes inspired Avengers: Age of Ultron, Infinity Warand Game overlikely along with at least a few alternate costumes taken from the MCU. It's also possible that NetEase will release new heroes to coincide with this major ongoing crossover event, such as Thanos in August and Doom in December, though that's purely speculation at this point.

More often than not, these crossovers came in the form of alternate skins for players to purchase Marvel Rivals' shop in the game.
