Minecraft Releases New Snapshot Update for August 2025

Minecraft players have a new snapshot to test on Java that adds new Copper Decorations to incorporate into builds. While this Minecraft update is relatively small in scope, it also includes several quality-of-life changes.

Minecraft snapshot August 2025

This year has already been busy for Mojang, with two new game drops introduced: Spring to Life and Chase the Skies. In addition, the developer has another one planned for fall 2025. While fans will likely have to wait a couple more months before this latest content is officially added to the base game, some of its features have already started rolling out for testing. Thanks to these experimental updates, players have already been able to check out the Copper Golem Statue and the Shelf Block in Minecraft. Recently, more content has entered testing.

As part of snapshot 25w32a for Minecraft, players now have access to Copper Decorations on the experimental branch of the Java edition. These new features introduce even more customization options when building structures in Minecraft. Specifically, the update added the Copper Torch, Copper Bars, Copper Chain, and Copper Lantern. These variants of existing items stand out thanks to the oxidation effect, which changes the coloration of the decorations over time.

Beyond these new Copper Decorations, Mojang made several other changes in snapshot 25w32a. According to the patch notes, items placed on Shelf Blocks “have been repositioned to sit on the Shelf.” Along with this change, the Copper Golem Statue was tweaked so that it would drop as an item when mined and when pushed off by a piston. Furthermore, the Chain block was renamed “Iron Chain,” and the Copper Trapdoor recipe now requires four Copper Ingots, making it somewhat easier to craft.

It will be interesting to see how Java players utilize these new Copper Decorations in the coming days. While Bedrock players will have to wait a bit longer to test out these new Minecraft features, Mojang has revealed that the decorations are coming to preview and beta soon.

Time will tell what Mojang adds to the game via snapshot updates next. With numerous players continuing to play Minecraft, the anticipation for the next game drop is high. However, there is other content related to the game for players to check out in the meantime. For example, the Sonic the Hedgehog add-on pack recently received an update, adding Super Sonic and Super Shadow. Besides Minecraft Marketplace content, Mojang added a new music disc based on A Minecraft Movie in a patch from last month.

Minecraft Snapshot 25w32a – Patch Notes

Another Tuesday, another Snapshot release! Alongside technical updates and bug fixes, this week we’re introducing a copper-y collection of goodies from our third game drop of the year: Build with copper torches, lanterns, chains, and bars – and watch them develop that stunning signature patina.
