More GameCube online games for Nintendo Switch may be leaked online

When the Nintendo Switch 2 had its official unveiling nearly a year ago, one of the most exciting announcements at the time was the inclusion of classic GameCube titles on Nintendo Switch Online through the ongoing Nintendo Classics program.

Since then, fans have been treated to various titles, including the original Luigi's Mansion and more recently Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance.

Now, via an inadvertent leak on Walmart's website, it looks like we know what two of the next GameCube titles will be: Pikmin 2 and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes.

First shared on Reddit and independently verified by TheGamer, the leak has Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and Pikmin 2 alongside previously released titles on Nintendo Switch Online, including the very first GameCube Classics title in Wind Waker.

It's unclear exactly when either title will be released, but with rumors abounding that the Nintendo Direct is being separated from the already announced Tomodachi Life presentation, there couldn't be a better time.

Interestingly, Prime 2's presence as a GameCube title and not its own “Remastered” version, which the first Metroid Prime received, would match the March 2025 rumors. At the time, it was reported that Prime 2 had been “saved” for NSO, except that GameCube titles were not yet part of NSO.

Once Prime 2 drops, the only remaining title in the Prime franchise will be the Wii exclusive Prime 3: Corruption. How Nintendo manages this is most interesting.

It wasn't until a few days later that GameCube games were announced at NSO as a Switch 2 exclusive feature. Flash forward to today and it looks like at least two of the other titles have been revealed.

Right now, we're still waiting on the three previously announced GameCube titles

Following the release of Path of Radiance earlier this month, the path (see what we did there) has been cleared for three titles that were previously revealed but have yet to debut on the paid service: Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness, Pokemon Colosseum, and Mario Sunshine.

The previous two Pokemon games appear to be prime targets for a reveal during the Pokemon Day festivities, while it's still unclear when Sunshine will drop. After that, everything from the initial reveal will be made public. This leaves plenty of room for Metroid and Pikmin sequels to debut.

So far, the first games to debut were Wind Waker, F-Zero GX, and Soul Calibur 2. Path of Radiance, Super Mario Strikers, Chibi-Robo, Luigi's Mansion, and Wario World followed.
