World Naruto has moved significantly in Boruto era and fans of the story are very aware of this, much to the chagrin of many Naruto fans. The Boruto the series drastically changed the world and characters like Naruto and Sasuke were completely removed from the plot. At the end of Boruto Part 1, fans saw how Naruto Uzumaki was sealed away by Kawaki and has not returned since. To the rest of the world, Naruto Uzumaki was declared dead, meaning that Konoha had lost its strongest Hokage forever in their eyes.

3 years have passed since then and Konoha continues to rule Shikamaru as the interim Hokage. However, this will not be true for long and Konoha really needs to choose the perfect replacement for the 7th Hokage. It seems the time for this new Hokage replacement is now and based on the various personalities that exist around the village, there is only one true replacement for Naruto Uzumaki.

Naruto Uzumaki's journey to the position of Seventh Hokage was quite a sweet one for fans to witness. He set out on his adventure as a boy hated by the entire village with little power to his name. Naruto Uzumaki then continued to gain great powers as his rivalry with Sasuke grew. His main goal was to gain the acceptance and recognition of the village, which he did by eventually becoming Hokage. However, the road to this point was certainly not easy.
Naruto's path was one of perseverance, self-belief and of course self-sacrifice. Naruto lost a lot, but in the end he also gained the love and support of the people around him.
In the midst of it all, Naruto grew into a man who strived to rid the world of pain, violence, and unhappiness, and it's safe to say that he accomplished the vast majority of that throughout his story. At the end of the series, Naruto became the seventh Hokage and was also recognized as the strongest shinobi in the entire history of the ninja world.. Quite clearly, Naruto was celebrated as a phenomenal character in his own story, but Boruto saw that his legacy was greatly destroyed.
Naruto Uzumaki is no longer the strongestand he's not as strong as he used to be. His greatest power, Kurama, was taken from him in the Boruto seriesand more than that, fans also saw him sealed away, essentially cutting him out of the vast majority of the story. Despite Naruto being the iconic character that he is, as well as the face of the entire franchise, he was treated horribly in Boruto.

Say goodbye to Naruto Uzumaki and welcome the new strongest character in Boruto
Naruto Uzumaki is powerful, but now there is one stronger ninja in Boruto.
Whether it was right or wrong for the franchise is one thing, but in the story itself Konoha definitely needs a replacement for Naruto three years after his sudden disappearanceand now is the time bringing back the legendary Sixth Hokage as his perfect replacement, which fans know to be Kakashi.
Naruto's perfect replacement right now is Kakashi Hatake
While most fans would look to the next generation characters to replace Naruto Uzumaki, the fact is that none of them are really ready. Sarada Uchiha eventually becomes Hokagebut right now she is neither strong enough nor mature enough to reach that state. Similarly, Konohamaru is an incredibly clumsy character. Based on his current performance, he shouldn't come close to the position of Hokage in his lifetime.
The only person who can truly take the position of Hokage and deserve it right now is Sakura Harunobut the Boruto series considered her irrelevant. The only thing it drives fans to do is bring Kakashi back.
Kakashi was already the Hokage of Konoha and in Naruto's absence it makes sense for him to come back and leave the village again.. Bringing back the Hokage is no stranger to Konoha. For example, when the Fourth Hokage died, the Third Hokage returned and took the position until the Fifth Hokage was elected after his death.
Likewise, right now, in the absence of the Seventh Hokage, it makes sense for the village to go back to the very powerful and intelligent shinobi that is Kakashi and allow him to leave the village during this troubled time. This would help the series in two ways:

It would allow Konoha to regain a sense of semblance and regroup as a powerful village. It would give them a strong leader at the top and allow them to formulate newer strategies in the battle against Shinju and eventually try to bring Naruto back.

Secondly, it would also ease the pain in the fans' hearts. The Boruto series has done a huge disservice to all Naruto characters, including Kakashi. Bringing him back right now would be the best decision Ikemoto could make and it would also make the fans happy.
Konohamaru and Sarada can take position later
Kakashi would only be Hokage of the village for a short time. As the Boruto series reached its end, fans could see him standing up and taking a stance as Konohamaru. Of course, until then, Konohamaru will have a lot of work to do because he doesn't deserve the position at all right now. Once he was truly reliable, Konohamaru would be welcomed as the Eighth Hokage in the village. after him Sarada Uchiha rises as the ninth Hokage of the villageand all fans of the story would be satisfied.

In the middle of it all fans would also see the return of Naruto Uzumakiand that would be really fantastic for everyone because then he would also engage in many exciting battles against Otsutsuki or Shinju.
Of course, ultimately the decision to actually enforce all of these things rests with the story writer. Whether Ikemoto wants to bring Kakashi back or not remains to be seen. But from the fans' side, it's something that Boruto would absolutely love to do, as it would fix a lot of the issues the series is currently plagued with, and it excited fans to no end.
