The Naruto the world has changed greatly and deeply over the years Boruto era, fans have seen newer powers introduced and some older powers completely destroyed in the story. One such ability that lost importance in Boruto era is the power of the Six Paths. While it was previously an incredibly useful ability that was most in demand with Naruto, v Boruto it doesn't really mean much because the story has dealt with things so far.

In fact, it's safe to say that the divine powers of the Six Paths officially died in Boruto after Naruto took Kurama from him and Sasuke lost his Rinnegan as well. As unfortunate as it may be, it is truly the end of the Six Paths era in the Naruto franchise.

In the Naruto series, fans knew that the Six Paths Powers were the pinnacle of power that was clearly established from the beginning of the story. The powers of the six paths were essentially a recreation of the chakra of the sage of the six paths, Hagoromo Otsutsuki. In order to gain the power of the Six Paths, one had to either combine the chakra of Hagoromo's two children, Indra and Asura Otsutsuki, or be gifted directly by Hagoromo himself.
Besides the Six Paths, the Rinnegan has another great power. It is the cruel Seventh Way, called the Outer Way. Those with the power of the fabled Rinnegan have the power to rule over life and death. Nagato gives up his life because he trusts you. — Konan to Naruto about the Rinnegan
Different characters gained the power of the Six Paths in different ways. For example, Madara Uchiha gained the power of the Six Paths by stealing a piece of Hashirama's flesh and infusing it into his own body. Since he was the incarnation of Indra and Hashirama was the reincarnation of Asura, he was able to give birth to the Six Paths Chakra and awaken the Rinnegan. This also eventually gave him tremendous power once he returned in the Fourth Great Ninja War. By becoming the Jinchuriki of the Ten Tails, Madara also eventually obtained the Six Paths Senjutsu and became the world's next Sage of Six Paths.
Then there is the case of Naruto and Sasuke. Both of these characters gained the power of the Six Paths by being gifted directly by Hagoromo Otsutsuki.. At the moment of death, the two met Hagorom and he gifted each with half of their powers, allowing them to fight against Madara and even take on Kaguya Otsutsuki. Gaining such tremendous powers, Naruto and Sasuke became gods in their own right. Naruto received the Senjutsu Six Paths as well as the Tailed Beasts chakra. Meanwhile, Sasuke gained the power of the Rinnegan, giving him immense visual prowess. While these powers were in high demand in the Naruto series, they died a sad death in Boruto.

The Six Paths of Senjutsu don't even exist
The end of Naruto and Sasuke's god powers came in the arc where Ishiki was the main enemy. In Naruto Uzumaki's case, he was seen using a power known as Baryon Mode, which, while great on paper, was his undoing due to the fact that it allowed him to reach high levels of power. Naruto's use of Baryon Mode caused Kurama's death and this essentially stripped him of his greatest power. When Kurama was dead, his contact with the other Tailed Beasts was also severed, and as far as fans know, he lost access to his Six Paths abilities.

In Sasuke Uchiha's case, his Rinnegan was directly stabbed by Momoshiki, who took over Boruto's body. Basically, both of these characters lost their Six Paths Powers. With that, the Boruto series killed the godlike powers of the Naruto series in a very shocking way.
Naruto and Sasuke's legacy was destroyed in Boruto
Although some fans may not like to admit it, the truth is that the Boruto series has destroyed the legacies of many Naruto characters, with Naruto and Sasuke at the forefront of that list. Ironically, these are the two characters from the Naruto series that got the most attention in Boruto, but the treatment was terrible and fans are still frustrated with all the changes to this day. Naruto and Sasuke were never meant to be disrespected by the villains like they were in the Boruto series, plus they were completely stripped of the greatest abilities they worked extremely hard to acquire and then sealed away to give the next generation a platform to shine on.

Naruto Uzumaki is powerful, but now there is one stronger ninja in Boruto.
This kind of treatment of characters is definitely not acceptable to any Naruto fanand rightfully so. There is no reason for the Boruto series to treat old legends like this just because the next generation needs to shine. A talented writer may well do both at the same time, or do it in such a way as to preserve the legacy of the old generation. Regardless, there is still hope that the old legends of the Naruto series will regain some of their lost grace upon their eventual return to Boruto, which at this point seems imminent.
Boruto's End could restore Naruto and Sasuke's legacy forever
Right now, there's no denying that Naruto and Sasuke's legacy could have been saved in the Boruto series. As the series nears its end, they will have to return. Neither Naruto nor Sasuke are dead at this point in the storyand that means they will eventually have to come back. When Naruto and Sasuke come back, maybe they will be given new upgrades or their old powers restored in some way.. Regardless of which way Ikemoto goes about it, if they are restored to the status they once had, fans will be truly pleased to see them back on the front lines.
However, even if they aren't given the powers they so desperately need at this point in the story, fans know for sure that Boruto's ending would once again preserve their legacy. This is because the conclusion of Boruto will essentially mark the end of a dark era for these two charactersand any new move for the franchise will most certainly focus solely on Naruto. Perhaps a new story set in a blank period or a remake would put the spotlight back on these two characters and allow them to shine. Either way, the end of Boruto is necessary to preserve and restore the legacy of the old legends, and fans absolutely can't wait.
