Although the majority Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans may be celebrating the release of Switch 2 and the 3.0 update, those who enjoy adult humor are in mourning. That's because, despite Nintendo leaving it untouched for half a decade, one of the funnest islands in Animal Crossing: New Horizons he just got banned.
Although many of the secrets Animal Crossing: New Horizons features left unmentioned in the patch notes are beneficial, such as a new form of movement for easier decorating, one controversial change left unmentioned is the sweep for the NSFW Dream Islands. Although it makes sense that Nintendo wants to keep Animal Crossing series as PG as it gets – it's always been a family-oriented company and New Horizons is rated E for everyone – that doesn't make gamers any less disappointed. One of the dream islands that was deleted was particularly popular with Japanese players as it was visited by several streamers such as @retrogametv1 and served as a constant source of 18+ humor when it was active.
As for what created this advanced island New Horizons player @churip_ccc stands out, contains the following adult jokes:
-
A “free information center” that greets players as soon as they land, used in Japan to guide residents to brothels, strip clubs, and so on.
-
The red light district, home to everything from pachinko parlors and saunas to “natural herb” stalls.
-
“Love Hotel” with several copies of Michaelangelo's statue of David outside the door. Trees are used to block all parts of the sculpture except the exposed genitalia.
-
Blathers' room is full of used tissues and next to the museum curator's bed are lots of photos of Isabelle. Tom Nook's room is similarly lewd.
The creator of Animal Crossing Adult Island knew his days were numbered
The highlights of the island can be seen in the video above, and even though everything is in Japanese, no language barrier prevents this kind of humor from being translated. Just as funny as this New Horizons The island of dreams is, it is clear that there was also a lot of work in its creation. As such, fans of the adult island are celebrating its creators after the disappointing news that the site is no longer accessible. While one would expect @churip_ccc to be equally disappointed, the creator took the removal of the dream address in stride, even thanking Nintendo for “turning a blind eye” for so long.
According to Automaton Media, the above tweet translates as: “In fact, just a day before the update, The Dream Address for the Adult Island Nintendo was deleted. I apologize from the bottom of my heart to Nintendo. Or rather, thank you for turning a blind eye for over five years. Thank you so much to everyone who visited the island and to all the streamers who showed it in their videos.”
Not sure if @churip_ccc is right about Nintendo looking the other way and letting players enjoy the island for years. On the one hand, some dream islands have been banned in the past for being offensive, and update 2.0 would have been a perfectly valid time to remove the dream address for that particular location, so it's strange that such a well-known outlet would live on. On the other hand, there are undoubtedly thousands of active dream islands inside New Horizons for Nintendo to keep an eye out, so it's possible—though unlikely, given how infamous it is—that this one slipped through the cracks. Players will likely never know if the funny island was intentionally given its time to shine or if @churip_ccc was just lucky, but the result remains the same: this island is gone and can only be seen through recordings.
With players able to decorate together thanks Animal Crossing New HorizonsBig update, those who want to create their own adult islands will have an easier time. It's probably not the best idea to pass them off as Dream Islands, as it's now clear that they will (eventually) be taken away.
