It's been ten years since Nathan Drake took players on an emotionally charged journey in Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, which served as the culmination of the great treasure hunter's four-chapter journey. Lost Legacy, an Uncharted 4 spinoff with two separate characters, has been around for almost as long.
Some might say it's high time for a comeback. Others are absolutely fed up with Nate's gut-wrenching conclusion. No matter which side of the aisle you are on, you likely we didn't expect our boy's return to be “we have Resident Evil at home” and honestly, I highly doubt Sony anticipated that.
No, er, yes, that's definitely you, Nate
Enter… Floor 28: Fire Pit. Does that sound like 28 days later? Large! Probably yes, so let's click buy. Does it look like Resident Evil? Large! Probably yes, so let's click buy. Oh smart consumer, haven't you been duped by one of the above little scams? Here's another one. Isn't that Nathan Drake from Naughty Dog's hugely successful Uncharted franchise? Large! Probably yes, so let's click buy.
At least, that's the only thing I can imagine going through Witenovastudio OÜ's mind when they revealed this thing. 28 Floors: Outbreak is available on wishlist right now, at PlayStation Networkbecause apparently the developers never read the one about Icarus and the sun. The screenshots mainly feature the protagonist's hands as he reaches out to do dramatic things like save a scary-looking test specimen (press x) or an injured doctor (press circle), but the cover image – the thing everyone will see first – is the villainous descendant of Sir Francis Drake helping the aforementioned doctor out of a corridor of horrors.
28 Floors: Outbreak also features some amazing visuals, like the one seen above, which features the hero wrapping a bandage around his wrist in front of blood. You can really feel the passion. People are ripping Outbreak apart on ResetEra, and if you squint you'll find evidence that yours truly was commenting on this video game disaster hours before I decided to write about it in a vaguely professional manner.
I'm not sure what Witenovastudio OÜ thinks will get away with this. Sony shot down Lights of Motiram, a Horizon clone. Is it a table bet that they won't go after a game that doesn't look like Uncharted except for a very blatantly ragged main character? i mean Maybe? Or are the developers really optimistic that PlayStation won't bother protecting the image of one of the most historically significant fictional characters in its multi-year history?
Uh, 28 Floors: The focus is, um, supposed to start in 2027. I wouldn't count on it, Nate.
A year later and Pokemon fans are still waiting in the Colosseum for the Switch 2
Instead we got its sequel (XD: Gale of Darkness) which is just as confusing.
