Stardew Valley creator Eric 'ConcernedApe' Barone reveals the surprising truth about the possibility of a direct sequel to the popular farming sim.

What's included in the new Stardew Valley Switch 2 update?

In a social media post, ConcernedApe shared a short set of patch notes for the February 2026 update for Stardew Valley: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. Players first started experiencing problems with the new version of the game shortly after its release in December 2025, though ConcernedApe and his small group of developers quickly got to work fixing the key issues. However, a major flaw with crafting in the Switch 2 version Stardew Valley was removing incorrect ingredients from players' inventories and seemingly took some time to resolve, with the bug finally being fixed with the February update. Other important changes include improvements to the Switch 2's mouse controls and a fix to ensure that network maintenance messages can be displayed in co-op game sessions.

The GameShare feature on the Switch 2 also needed some fixing Stardew Valley: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition February 2026 update with fixes for graphics corruption issues and parental controls in GameShare sessions. For those who don't know, the Switch 2 allows players to share one copy of a supported game and share it locally on up to four Switch systems. While it facilitates cooperative sessions for families and friends, Stardew Valley players struggled to enjoy GameShare with visual glitches and a lack of parental control activation for younger players connecting through GameShare. Fortunately, these and other issues covered in the patch notes have been resolved and the full update is now live for players in the United States.

Unfortunately for fans in Europe and Japan, they'll have to wait a bit longer to get their hands on the Switch 2 version Stardew Valley. ConcernedApe has reiterated its desire to work out any and all bugs before the full Switch 2 edition launches in other regions, though its latest report states that those global releases “will follow in a few weeks.” Fans will no doubt remember the significant delay between the PC release Stardew Valley Update 1.6 and the launch of a major expansion on consoles, although Switch 2 players are crossing their fingers that Stardew Valley: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will have fewer bugs to sort through before they can finally jump into the upgraded version of Pelican Town.

ConcernedApe and his team are balancing fixes for the Switch 2 Edition with work on the highly anticipated 1.7 update for Stardew Valley and another original Ape game, Haunted Chocolatieralthough the latter remains a solo project for the creator for now. Interested fans can stay tuned for any news on future updates for the Stardew Valley: Nintendo Switch 2 Editionincluding European and Japanese releases of the full Switch 2 game and other patches released for the beloved farming sim.
