Nintendo Switch 2 pre -orders feel like the debacl ps5 again

As expected, pre -order Nintendo Switch 2 was an absolute debacle. One of our editors, Sam Hallahan, has already written about the concerns that he has surrounding the scalpers when it comes to picking up a new console, and they are already beginning to meet.

US pre -orders opened at the beginning of this week, and judged by the only view of my social media it was an unknown blood bath. Target is already canceling orders, scalpers report a number of volumes for inflated prices, and people who really wanted to buy a switch 2 have had their baskets empty or set the website before their eyes. It is likely that if you want Nintendo Switch 2 and you do not have a secure pre -order yet, you will have a bad time.

Getting hands on a new console should not be so difficult

When I was first released PS4, I was still a teenager without spending income, so one of the few reference points I can point out when pre -order consoles in the past was the original Nintendo Switch and PS5. The one I received for work before the start, even though I pre -ordered, but that was for my brother, so I obviously wasn't invested. But the switch is a different story and I was on the ground floor and ordered not only the console, but also the version of the Legend of Zelda with a limited edition: Breath of the Wild, several other titles and a list of laundries. I went overboard, but then it looked like I could without the real worry that I was screwed.

Everything was in a reasonable offer, and if you turned out when pre -orders opened or approximately the same time window, you were guaranteed a console. It was just enough freedom to buy and feel that you could provide a unit without selling a soul.

In the months following the launch, the offer began to regulate and most of the major retailers had shares in time for a large release later in the year. On the other hand, the PS5 was not easy and pre -order the console, and in fact it arrived on the opening day, felt impossible, except for several selected. So many of my friends and families could not get one and even weeks and months after the launch, supplies were little and far between them. If you wanted a little chance of getting, you would have to stay in the overview with the website and accounts created for this particular purpose. Too slow to draw? Next time more happiness.

Obviously, there were many factors with the PS5. The components that were used to be more expensive than ever, while supplies with improved pandemic supplies meant that production was hard enough, let alone transport and sale to people around the world. Until a year or two after starting, things began to return to normal, but until then it seemed to us as if half of the generation of the console had gone through and nothing that would turn out. And if things do not improve, Nintendo Switch 2 will be even worse.

Right now there are not enough switches of 2 consoles to satisfy demand

Nintendo has confirmed that it has received 2.2 million applications for pre -order switch 2 through the official Japanese facade, led to the statement that from now on the demand for the switch is far out of what the company can deliver before the date of issue 5 June. Some people lose and shares will be sporadically widespread across retailers. Its unexpectedly high price and inflated accessories only add an insult to injuries, and right now we have no choice but to swallow our pride and do what we can to ensure pre -orders.

I admit that there is something cheerful about weeks of viral complaints at the Switch 2 ending by still seizing in a piece to buy one.

Japan is not alone with fear of its price and increased costs in other aspects, thanks to the punishment of tariffs performed by Donald Trump, Nintendo Switch 2 fights what feels like a losing battle before even landing on the shelf. My biggest fear is that it will follow in the footsteps of PS5 and run with a fragmented stock, which sets out every few weeks before it normalizes long after it had an impact. We will be stuck, we will not be able to immerse ourselves in the next generation without the guilt of our own and unlike PS5 will actually be on Switch 2 actually trigger games.

Time will show if I am too afraid, but we have crossed for the idea of traditional generations of the console where the picking up of the new hardware was something you could go out and without a problem. Now it's a task in yourself and something that Switch 2 requires if you want to play one when it drops in a few months. Please don't be PS5 again.
